IBM z10: The Next-Generation Mainframe Microprocessor

The IBM system z10 includes four microprocessor cores - each with a private 3-Mbyte cache - and integrated accelerators for decimal floating-point computation, cryptography, and data compression. A separate SMP hub chip provides a shared third-level cache and interconnect fabric for multiprocessor scaling.

Packaging design challenges of the IBM System z10 Enterprise Class server

This paper describes the system packaging and technologies of the IBM System z10™ high-end Enterprise Class server. This machine exceeds the multiprocessor performance of the previous system by 50%. A new generation of the IBM Elastic Interface was developed in order to maintain the increased interconnect signal speed of up to 2.93 Gb/s.

Acyl-CoA Z9- and Z10-desaturase genes from a New Zealand leafroller moth species, Planotortrix octo

Two cDNAs encoding acyl-CoA Z9-desaturase from the fat body and Z10-desaturase from the pheromone gland of the greenhead leafroller moth, Planotortrix octo, were obtained by RACE PCR. The Z9-desaturase (Pocto-Z9) cDNA spans 2291 nt with an ORF encoding a 352 amino-acid protein, which has 65% identity to Trichoplusia ni Delta 9 desaturase (Tni-Z9).

Compounds were screened in a primary pancreatic acinar cell and peritoneal macrophage coculture system. Compounds were used in vitro and in vivo. Compound targets were predicted and validated.
