The IBM z13 multithreaded microprocessor
The IBM z13™ system is the latest generation of the IBM z Systems™ mainframes. The z13 microprocessor improves upon the IBM zEnterprise® EC12 (zEC12) processor with two vector execution units, higher instruction execution parallelism, and a simultaneous multithreaded (SMT) architecture that supports concurrent execution of two threads.

Advances in IBM Z Water Cooling: z13, z14, z15
IBM z15™ continued a broadening of the physical transformation of the mainframe into a new "true 19-inch" frame form-factor. This was done to meet the requirements of a broad range of data centers, including supporting various energy efficiency initiatives.

IBM z13 circuit design and methodology
The two chips at the heart of the IBM z13™ system include a processor chip (referred to as the CP or Central Processor chip) and an L4 (Level 4) cache chip (referred to as the SC or System Controller chip), each 678 mm2 in area. The CP and SC chips were implemented with approximately 4 billion (4 × 109) and 7.1 billion transistors, respectively, in IBM'

The IBM z13 processor cache subsystem
The IBM z13™ system introduces many new innovative concepts in building a high-performance modular and scalable symmetrical multiprocessing (SMP) system, comprising up to 192 multithreaded processors that span eight system processing nodes. The z13 uses new socket packaging technology, changing from multichip modules (MCMs) to single-chip modules (SCMs)

Inner-shell ionization and the Z13 and barkas effects in stopping power
Abstract The basic evidence for departure of energy loss phenomena from the Z 1 2 scaling law of the plane-wave Born approximation is recounted for bare projectiles with atomic number Z 1 . The several theoretical treatments of higher order contributions to stopping power theory are characterized.

The Barkas effect - or Z13, Z14-corrections to stopping of swift charged particles
The Barkas effect is the difference in stopping of swift, positive and negative particles. This qualitative discussion of it concerns the theory of higher Z1-corrections to the Bethe formula. It is shown that simple classical concepts suffice for obtaining main features of stopping formulae.
