Modulating Ion-Dipole and Dipole-Dipole Interactions for Stable Wide-Temperature-Range Lithium-Sulfur Batteries Enabled by Quantum-Dot Catalysts. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
The electrochemical inertness of Li2S2 leads to irreversible sulfur loss. MoNQDs/NC reconfigure the solvation shell structure, thereby weakening the ion‐dipole effect within Li(solvent)x+ and enabling a fast desolvation process. Furthermore, localized dipole fields from their ordered Mo–N atoms enhance dipole–dipole interactions with Li2S2.

Enhancing Bidirectional Sulfur Conversion Through p-d Orbital Hybridization via Vacancy Engineering. [PDF]

open access: yesExploration (Beijing)
To effectively alleviate the severe shuttle effect and delayed redox kinetics of lithium–sulfur batteries, CoWO4−x/CNT composites with different oxygen vacancy concentrations were prepared. The p–d orbital hybridization caused by oxygen vacancy enhances the bidirectional sulfur conversion, and provides valuable insights for the development of highly ...

Mason bees and honey bees synergistically enhance fruit set in sweet cherry orchards. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2023
We present data from our field experiment carried out in 17 cherry orchards in Central Germany. We found that the number of honey bees and mason bees can be enhanced through proving honey bees hives and artificial nesting material. However, sweet cherry fruit set only increased when both species were enhanced, suggesting a synergistic effect of bee ...

Mapping maternity care deserts: Driving distance and health outcomes in North Carolina. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Rural Health
Abstract Objective This study evaluated the association between maternal care deserts (MCDs)—defined by accessibility measures such as travel time and distance to obstetric and gynecological care—and maternal and infant health outcomes in North Carolina from 2016 to 2021.

Screening and Identification of Diesel Biodegrading Bacteria Isolated From Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contaminated Garage Soils of Kericho County, Kenya. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Microbiol
Despite the benefits of petroleum hydrocarbon as essential raw energy sources in many industries, they cause major global environmental pollution. Petroleum hydrocarbons pollutants are highly toxic and recalcitrant, making them dangerous and persistent over long periods in an ecosystem.

Determinants of International Tourism Demand in India: An Augmented Gravity Model Approach

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Vasile Goldis Arad, Seria Stiinte Economice, 2022
This study examines the determinants of international tourism demand in India using time series data from 1991-2019 from the top 15 source tourist countries. To do this, the study employed an augmented gravity model estimated using a two-step panel fixed-

Analysing public debt in the Mexican states: Spatial convergence, regional drivers and policy recommendations

open access: yesPapers in Regional Science, Volume 102, Issue 4, Page 737-760, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Considering that public debt is a priority for policymakers in Mexico, the aim of this paper is to examine the convergence or divergence in debt per capita and main drivers of debt in the 32 Mexican states in the period 2006–2021. The results support significant spatial correlation of debt/cap across states.

Normal edge-colorings of cubic graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A normal $k$-edge-coloring of a cubic graph is an edge-coloring with $k$ colors having the additional property that when looking at the set of colors assigned to any edge $e$ and the four edges adjacent it, we have either exactly five distinct colors or ...
