The Global Epilepsy Needs Study (GENS): A mixed‐methods, multi‐country exploration of the unmet psychosocial and everyday needs of people with epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 814-832, June 2026.
Abstract Objective While epilepsy research has largely focused on medical management and clinical outcomes, less attention has been given to the unmet psychosocial and everyday needs of people with epilepsy (PWE), particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries.

Karst Vadose Zone Hydrology Explored Through Cave Drip Water Dynamics: The Roles of Soil, Epikarst and Climate

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
Cave drip rate monitoring in Nova Grgosova Cave reveals three types of drip sites: (1) predominantly constant, (2) seasonally varying and (3) mostly constant with occasional sharp increases. The observational data coupled with one‐dimensional water‐balance model demonstrates that evapotranspiration and soil–epikarst storage, rather than precipitation ...

Simulation of Soil Water Content in Clayey Soils Where Dissolution and Precipitation of Pedogenic Carbonates Impact the Accuracy of Sensors Measuring Soil Water Content

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study deals with limitations of frequency domain reflectometry sensors, including data drift, when monitoring clayey soils with pedogenic carbonates. Despite these inaccuracies, the results demonstrate that corrected measurements of soil water content can still successfully calibrate hydrological models.

Multi‐Layered Genomic and Clinical Analysis Identifies Novel Variants, Co‐Occurring Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Pairs, and Clinical Determinants of Host‐Pathogen Interaction in COVID‐19 Severity

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Host genetic factors may contribute to COVID‐19 severity. To identify genetic variants influencing COVID‐19 severity progression, whole‐exome sequencing was performed, followed by an exome‐wide association study on 191 hospitalized patients categorized into three severity groups.

Prognostic Impact and Clinicopathological Significance of TIM‐3 and LAG‐3 Expressions in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Research on immune checkpoint molecules is increasing, reflecting their critical role in cancer pathogenesis. While PD‐1, PD‐L1, and CTLA‐4 have been widely studied in head and neck cancers, outcomes remain unsatisfactory, highlighting the need for novel prognostic markers and therapeutic targets.

Graph‐Theoretical Approach for Predicting Physicochemical Properties of Stiff‐Person Syndrome Drugs

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Graph‐theoretical descriptors derived from M‐polynomials are integrated with quantitative structure–property relationship modeling and machine learning to uncover structure–property relationships of drugs used in stiff‐person syndrome. Strong correlations between degree‐based topological indices and key physicochemical properties are revealed ...

Understanding Water Activity in Deep Eutectic Solvents: Experimental Screening, Thermodynamic Modeling, and QSAR Predictions

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 21, 4 June 2026.
Water activity (aw) was measured in eight DESs (10–90 wt% water). Strong DES–water interactions persist to ∼50 wt%, after which structure collapses toward aqueous‐like behavior. Redlich–Kister, Wilson, and COSMO‐RS models showed limited performance, whereas QSAR modeling using COSMOtherm‐derived σ‐profile descriptors significantly improved aw ...

Heart Rate Variability, Parental Stress, Child's Challenging Behaviour and Advanced Glycation End Products in Parents of Children With Chronic Conditions

open access: yesStress and Health, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Child's challenging behaviours can pose complex, highly stressful demands on parents. Such chronic stress may affect autonomic regulation, particularly vagal balance, and increase oxidative stress and the risk of developing chronic diseases.

Allergic Rhinitis and Its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)‐EAACI Guidelines—2024–2025 Revision: Part II—Guidelines on Oral and Ocular Treatments

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 6, Page 1947-1970, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Oral and ocular medications are frequently used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR). As part of the update of the Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)‐EAACI guidelines, this manuscript presents the ARIA‐EAACI 2024–2025 recommendations for oral and ocular treatments.
