Globally famous, locally recognized: Cross‐cultural validation of the use of Famous Faces Test in Croatia

open access: yesJournal of Neuropsychology, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 468-486, June 2026.
Abstract Familiar‐face tests are crucial to understanding face processing abilities but are culturally brittle. We investigated whether the Famous Faces Test (FFT) is valid and age‐robust in familiar‐face recognition in a non‐English‐speaking context. In two studies, Croatian younger and older adults completed a face recognition battery (FFT, CFMT, PI ...

Time Will Tell—A Longitudinal Study of Consideration of Future Consequences and Financial Behavior in Young Adults

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Affairs, Volume 60, Issue 2, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT Young adults need to adopt responsible financial behaviors in order to protect themselves as consumers. While much about the factors that influence financial behavior is known from cross‐sectional and panel studies of mixed samples of younger and older individuals, relatively few studies have focused on young adults and even fewer have applied

Supraumbillical Skin Retraction After Laser Assisted Liposuction/Lipolysis

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Supraumbilical skin laxity is a major surgical challenge. A literature review on laser‐assisted liposuction/lipolysis (LAL/L) speaks in favor of skin tightening. Alternative methods include visible postoperative scar. Aims The aim is to determine the vertical retraction of the supraumbilical skin and its association with age, gender,

Occlusal Sensitivity to Articulating Foils in Patients With Temporomandibular Disorders and Healthy Controls

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, Volume 53, Issue 6, Page 1118-1126, June 2026.
Using articulating foils of varying thickness, occlusal tactile acuity was compared between patients with chronic painful temporomandibular disorders (TMDp) and healthy controls. TMDp patients showed enhanced detection of thinner foils and greater perceptual sensitivity, accompanied by a more liberal decision strategy, whereas higher frequencies of ...

Ethnic Conflicts, Civil War, and Economic Growth: Region‐Level Evidence From Former Yugoslavia

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, Volume 66, Issue 3, Page 950-977, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper studies the long‐term effects of the Yugoslav civil war (1987–1995) on subnational economic growth across 78 regions in five former Yugoslav republics from 1950 to 2015. We construct counterfactual growth trajectories using a robust region‐level donor pool from 32 conflict‐free countries.

Phase‐Transfer‐Catalyzed Interrupted Barton–Zard Reaction Between Electron‐Deficient Indoles and Benzophenone‐Derived Isocyanides

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 19, 22 May 2026.
A cascade reaction under phase‐transfer conditions between 3‐nitro indoles and isocyanomethylene dibenzenes affords the construction of pyrrolo[3,4‐b]indole cores. Control experiments provide insight into moderate product yields and clarify why the reaction is not amenable to asymmetric induction. A cascade reaction enabling the construction of pyrrolo[
