Uniform Penalty inversion of two-dimensional NMR Relaxation data

open access: yes, 2016
The inversion of two-dimensional NMR data is an ill-posed problem related to the numerical computation of the inverse Laplace transform. In this paper we present the 2DUPEN algorithm that extends the Uniform Penalty (UPEN) algorithm [Borgia, Brown ...

Effects of Whey Protein Hydrolysate Ingestion on Serum Uric Acid Levels in Adult Men: A Randomized, Double‐Blind, Parallel‐Group, Placebo‐Controlled Study

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
Whey protein hydrolysate ingestion reduced uric acid levels after 12 weeks. Body mass index decreased with whey protein hydrolysate ingestion. Renal filtration rate improved with whey protein hydrolysate ingestion. No serious adverse effects due to whey protein hydrolysate ingestion were observed.

Supplementation of protein-free diet with whey protein hydrolysates prevents skeletal muscle mass loss in rats

open access: yesJournal of Nutrition & Intermediary Metabolism, 2016
Muscle mass loss is induced by aging, several catabolic diseases, and malnutrition. It is well known that ingestion of whey protein and its hydrolysates (WPH) is effective in stimulating muscle protein synthesis.

Post Stroke Mirror Movements Preventing Performance of Bilateral Movements and Activities of Daily Living

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurology, 2022
Mirror movements (MMs) are involuntary synchronous movements of one limb during voluntary movements of the contralateral limb. Generally, MMs after stroke are observed in the unaffected hand during voluntary movements of the affected hand; MMs in the ...

Thrombin-Stimulated Proliferation of Cultured Human Synovial Fibroblasts Through Proteolytic Activation of Proteinase-Activated Receptor-1

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2008
We examined the mechanism of thrombin on proliferation of synovial fibroblasts obtained from rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Thrombin concentration-dependently induced proliferation of synovial fibroblasts. Proliferation in response to thrombin (10 U /ml) was

Changing Rainfall Patterns and Their Climatic Drivers in One of the Rainiest Places on Earth, Debundscha, Gulf of Guinea

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 45, Issue 11, September 2025.
The Mann‐Kendall test shows non‐statistically significant declining trends in annual and seasonal rainfall in Debundscha (1972–2009) while Limbe exhibits statistically significant increasing trends in annual and seasonal rainfall (1985–2015). ABSTRACT Debundscha is ranked amongst the top rainiest places on Earth, yet there is a paucity of information ...

On ergativity in Bumthang [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This report investigates the uses of the ergative case marker in transitive clauses in Bumthang, a language of Central Bhutan. We discuss the conditions under which the ergative is required and show that a simple analysis involving multiple influences ...

Functional Characterization of a Novel Intronic Variant in PIEZO2 in a Recessive Form of Distal Arthrogryposis With Impaired Proprioception and Touch (DAIPT)

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
DAIPT is a rare genetic disease caused by PIEZO2 gene mutations. We identified two novel variants of the gene, a nonsense and an intronic substitution, in a child with suspected DAIPT. Functional studies confirmed the effect of the nonsense variant and demonstrated the pathogenicity of the intronic one by providing a conclusive diagnosis of DAIPT. This
