Interaction Between Selected MoS2 Nanoparticles and ZDDP Tribofilms
Tribology Letters, 2015Nanoparticles based on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) are considered to hold great promise as boundary lubricating additive/material for improving friction and wear of engineering functional surfaces. However, TMD nanoparticles cannot provide a comprehensive surface protection against oxidation, corrosion or sludge control.

Tribochemistry of ZDDP and MoDDP chemisorbed films
Tribology Letters, 1996By means of a UHV analytical AES/XPS pin-on-flat tribotester, we have investigated tribochemical change as well as transfer mechanisms in static reaction films on steel from ZDDP (anti-wear) and MoDDP (friction modifier) lubricant additives. The results show that solid ZDDP reaction films are able to strongly reduce friction to a value of 0.1–0.3 (in ...

Tribochemistry of ZDDP in molecular orbital calculations
Tribology International, 2004Abstract The molecular orbital parameters of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) and several metal-atom-cluster models were calculated. The nature and the strength of the interactions between the ZDDP molecules and different metal surfaces are analysed and discussed with the use of frontier orbital theory.

The Boundaries of Zddp Lubrication
1993The antiwear performance of a commercial secondary zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) in base stock was examined over a wide range of conditions in a 4-ball machine. Particular attention was given to correlating the rate of wear with the appearance of wear scars.

Film thickness and roughness of ZDDP antiwear films
Tribology Letters, 2007The two experimental techniques, spacer layer interferometry imaging (SLIM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), have been used to measure the thickness and roughness of zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (ZDDP) reaction films formed in a rolling-sliding minitraction machine (MTM) tribometer.

Experimental Analysis on the Lubrication Performance of ZDDP
Advanced Materials Research, 2011In this paper, the antiwear properties of Zinc dithiodialkylphosphate and its synergistic effect with Benzotriazole have been studied by test. The results show that small amount of Benzotriazole can greatly improve the antiwear properties of ZDDP . The compound additive have been used in the research of engine oil formulation, we gained good effect.

Friction response of ZDDP thermal film and tribofilm
Tribology - Materials, Surfaces & Interfaces, 2011An original dynamic tribotest was used to study the friction response of two kinds of tribological surface: zinc-dialkyl-dithio-phosphate (ZDDP) thermal film and ZDDP tribofilm. This apparatus allows friction to be determined with no need for measuring tangential force.

Antiwear Characteristics of a Commercial Secondary ZDDP Additive
Tribology Transactions, 1993A four-ball wear machine was used to follow the performancel wear scar appearance of a commercial secondary ZDDP antiwear additive in basestock. At a spindle speed of 1200 rpm, a protective glassy layer formed on the wear scar within seconds that gave excellent wear protection. The layer thickened unevenly forming mounds typically 20 μm diameter by a 0.

Effect of ZDDP on friction in fretting contacts
Wear, 2011Abstract The effect of ZDDP on fretting wear was investigated in a ball on flat machine. The results confirm previous work that anti-wear agents may reduce friction and wear in fretting contacts. It was further found that temperature, adsorption time, base oil polarity as well as the presence of other surface active additives in the oil were all ...
