Investigation of ionic liquids with and without graphene as lubricant additive for metal/metal and metal/PEEK contacts over a wide temperature range

open access: yesLubrication Science, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 100-111, March 2021., 2021
Abstract The aim of the work is to improve tribological properties of an ATF oil by means of additives. Two ionic liquids (IL) and one IL with 0.1 wt.% graphene were chosen as candidates. The ILs were selected because of their promising surface interactions and proven synergy with anti‐wear additives.

Tribological Bench and Engine Dynamometer Tests of a Low Viscosity SAE 0W-16 Engine Oil Using a Combination of Ionic Liquid and ZDDP as Anti-wear Additives

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
We have previously reported an oil-miscible phosphonium-organophosphate ionic liquid (IL) with effective anti-wear functionality when added to a base oil by itself or combined with a conventional zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) for a synergistic ...

The Distribution of Zinc in Low-Friction ZDDP Tribofilm on Iron Oxide

open access: yesTribology Online, 2009
To develop a low-friction and low-wear tribo-system for engine components, the authors have been studying the ZDDP tribofilm formed on iron oxide. Tribotests on iron-oxide / steel sliding pairs were performed in PAO with 1 mass% ZDDP.

Synergistic tribological effect between polyisobutylene succinimide-modified molybdenum oxide nanoparticle and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate for reducing friction and wear of diamond-like carbon coating under boundary lubrication

open access: yesFriction, 2023
Organic molybdenum lubricant additive like molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate (MoDTC) can cause wear acceleration of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating coupled with steel under boundary lubrication, which hinders its industrial application.
