Squamous metaplasia of the rete ovarii in a Zebu cow [PDF]
BMC Veterinary Research, 2012 Stratified keratinizing squamous epithelium in the ovary has been associated with the diagnosis of ovarian teratoma in cows. Recently, the diagnosis of "epidermoid cyst" has been proposed. A case of squamous metaplasia of the rete ovarii in a Zebu cow is described in this report.A crossbreed Zebu cow had both ovaries enlarged with multiple cysts.

Veterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.Cross‐sectional survey and retrospective data on the oestrus synchronization were collected and analysed. The predominant mating system practiced by dairy farmers was AI (55.6%), and 73.5% of farmers apply controlled mating. The highest response rate and pregnancy rate were 89.5% and 45.2%, respectively, whereas a birth rate of 9.6%–18.5% was obtained.

Follicular growth and atresia during estrous cycle were evaluated using a portable ultrasound device. Luteal activity was evaluated by serum progesterone levels.
