Simultaneous parallel astrogeodetic observations using two digital zenith camera systems: Comparing CODIAC and VESTA

2023
Nowadays, zenith telescope-based digital zenith camera systems (DZCSs), such as the Compact Digital Astronomical Camera (CODIAC) and VErtical by STArs (VESTA), are used to determine highly accurate astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical (DoVs). The CODIAC and VESTA were developed by ETH Zurich and University of Latvia, respectively, and only two ...

Results of astronomical leveling on the Moscow attraction using a zenith camera

Geodesy and Cartography
In this paper, the quasi-geoid elevations along the profile of the Moscow attraction are calculated based on the astronomical leveling method – according to the components of the deflection of vertical, which were measured using the zenith camera of the FSUE "VNIIF-TRI". The length of the profile is approximately 93 km.

Digital Zenith Camera for Vertical Deflection Determination: on the Way to 1 cm Precise Quasi-Geoid Model for Latvia

2019
The digital zenith camera VESTA (VErtical by STArs) was designed by the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics (GGI) of the University of Latvia and completed in 2016. Since that more than 300 terrestrial vertical deflection measurements were observed in the territory of Latvia.

Variations in rotation of the earth, results obtained with the dual-rate moon camera and photographic zenith tubes

Symposium - International Astronomical Union, 1959
Comparison of photographic zenith tube (P.Z.T.) observations with time derived from quartz-crystal clocks during 1951 to 1955 and with cesium standards of frequency during 1955 to 1958 indicates that the seasonal variation is nearly the same from year to year.
