Agricultural System Resilience of Industrial Hemp: An Exploratory Value Web Analysis in the Swabian Alb

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study assessed the industrial hemp value web resilience in the Swabian Alb, Southern Germany, where regional implementation remains limited despite hemp's bioeconomy potential. Using an indicator framework and stakeholder interviews, the research found the small, fluctuating cultivation area (e.g., 25 ha in 2024) focuses on hemp seed valorisation;

An integrative, peer‐reviewed and open‐source cooperative‐breeding database (Co‐BreeD)

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 12, Page 2597-2614, December 2025.
Co‐BreeD is the first updatable and open‐source database dedicated to cooperative breeding. It enables continuous, non‐binary measurement of cooperative breeding, transforming how we study breeding systems across taxa. Further, by linking biological estimates to their exact sampling location and period, it allows for unprecedented accuracy in the ...

Globally Critical Infrastructure: The Unique Risks and Challenges

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 4804-4817, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Critical infrastructure is typically identified at the national level. However, disruption to certain infrastructure systems, facilities, and assets can have negative consequences for global societies. Such globally critical infrastructure entails a distinct risk profile for both countries dependent on the infrastructure, and countries that ...

The Challenge of Bacterial Infections During Intensive Care Unit Stay After Heart Transplantation

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, Volume 27, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
Abstract Background Infections occurring in the early post–heart transplant (HT) period heavily contribute to morbidity and mortality. Our goal is to evaluate the incidence of hospital‐acquired pneumonia/ventilator‐associated pneumonia (HAP/VAPs) and/or bloodstream infections (BSIs) after HT during the intensive care unit (ICU) stay and identify their ...

Lidar‐Binocular Camera‐Integrated Navigation System for Underground Parking

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
It is well known that vehicles highly rely on satellite navigation in an open intelligent traffic environment. However, satellite navigation cannot obtain accurate positioning information for vehicles in the interior of underground garage, as they comprise a semienclosed navigation space, worse light than outdoors in a special traffic environment.

Poly(benzodifurandione) Coated Silk Yarn for Thermoelectric Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 38, October 16, 2024.
Silk is coated with the n‐type polymer poly(benzodifurandione) (PBFDO) resulting in conducting yarn with an extrapolated half‐life of 3.2 ± 0.7 years at ambient conditions, which enables the fabrication of air stable thermoelectric textile generators by embroidery.

Blood‐based assessment of oxidative stress, inflammation, endocrine and metabolic adaptations in eventing horses accounting for plasma volume shift after exercise

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 10, Issue 3, May 2024.
Graphical Abstract: After submaximal exercise (two–four‐star cross‐country rides), trained eventing horses showed consistently elevated HGB and cortisol levels, above the reference ranges for healthy horses at rest. However, physiological changes also occur within the reference ranges. Hormonal axes are activated, and there is antioxidant activity.

Effect of aging and fiber‐reinforcement on color stability, translucency, and microhardness of single‐shade resin composites versus multi‐shade resin composite

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 632-642, April 2024.
Abstract Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aging and fiber‐reinforcement on the color stability, translucency, and microhardness of single‐shade resin composites versus multi‐shade resin composite. Materials and Methods Four resin composites (Filtek Z250, Omnichroma, Vittra APS Unique, Zenchroma) were tested.
