Acidity of Zeolites

open access: yes
Zeolites, known for their crystallinity and porosity, exhibit versatile acid functionalities, making them valuable industrial catalysts. This chapter discusses the acidity of zeolites, including Brønsted and Lewis acids, and their variations. It focuses on the principal methodologies for adjusting zeolite acidity, including isomorphous substitution ...

Metal Battery Anode: Rich in Electrons, Rich in Problems: A Critical Review from Industrial Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metal‐anode batteries using Li, Na, Mg, and Ca offer exceptionally high energy density, but dendrites, unstable interphases, cracking, and pore formation hinder durability and safety. This review shows how careful electrolyte and interphase design can stabilize these reactive metals.

Monitoring the Microwave Synthesis of d0‐Free Disordered Rocksalt Cathodes Using In Situ Infrared Pyrometry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Despite its promise for producing metastable materials, the mechanisms underlying solid‐state microwave synthesis remain poorly understood. By combining in situ thermography with x‐ray diffraction and solid‐state NMR, this study uncovers a surprising order–disorder–order reaction pathway during the microwave synthesis of the Li1.1Mn0.9O1.9F0.1${\rm Li ...

Phonon‐Driven Tetrahedral Tilts Enable Ultralow Bulk Thermal Expansion and Interstitial Oxide‐Ion Migration in Phenacite Solid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a design paradigm of phonon‐driven negative‐thermal‐expansion (NTE) flexible framework that exploits the intrinsic lattice flexibility of NTE frameworks to simultaneously suppress thermal expansion and activate oxide‐ion conduction, offering a promising strategy to mitigate TEC mismatch in solid‐state ionic devices.

Bond‐Competition‐Driven Enhancement of Surface Basicity and Interfacial Interaction to Boost Photocatalytic Syngas Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergetic surface bond competition−hybridization approach was developed to synthesize high‐performance CO2 adsorbents and syngas production photocatalysts via the sulfurization‐driven control of surface basicity and interfacial coupling. The ZnIn2S4−sulfur‐doped MgO/MgAl2O4 nanocomposites showed outstanding photocatalytic efficiency for production ...

Predicting Catalyst Performance From Pt/CeO2 Redispersion Kinetics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Unravelling kinetics of dynamic structural changes in catalysts is the key to predicting their catalytic properties. ETEM experiments reveal a continuous decrease in Pt particle size on cube‐shaped CeO2 under oxidizing conditions, changing from large nanoparticles to highly dispersed species.

Synthesis and characterisation of zeolite-A and Zn-exchanged zeolite-A based on natural aluminosilicates and their potential applications

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2018
Zeolites have been hydrothermally synthesized using alumina and silica based deposits (kaolin, bauxite, silica and feldspar) sampled from three regions in Ghana and the chemical compositions of the zeolites varied by batch formulations.

Further Evidences for the Sulfur Spillover on Carbon: Thermodynamic Aspects and Effects on Li‐S Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates sulfur spillover, the spontaneous and rapid spread of sulfur over carbon surfaces at ambient temperature. The process is studied by small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS), X‐ray radiography, and microcalorimetry from which a number of physicochemical properties are derived.

Crosslinking of Linear Polyimines Into Aminal‐Linked Porous Organic Polymers for C2 Hydrocarbon/Methane Separation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Crosslinking of linear polyimines with aromatic diamines via nucleophilic addition converts nonporous polyimine precursors into aminal‐linked porous networks, offering a new strategy for synthesizing porous organic polymers. The resulting materials exhibit high C2 hydrocarbon adsorption capacity, excellent selectivity over CH4, and durable cyclic ...
