Vapor bubble growth in a zeotropic binary mixture

Thermophysics and Aeromechanics, 2021
In the framework of the thermal energy scheme, the growth of a vapor bubble in a uniformly superheated zeotropic mixture of two liquids is investigated. Formulas are derived for the bubble growth modulus and the Jacob criterion, which depends both on the physical properties of the mixture and its composition.

Modeling of In-Tube Condensation of Zeotropic Mixtures

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2016
Studies in the literature have shown that zeotropic mixture condensation rates are lower than those predicted using a pure-fluid approach. This has been attributed to the decrease in fluid temperature that occurs with zeotropic mixtures and to the development of concentration gradients in the vapor-phase that limit the condensation heat transfer.

In-tube condensation of zeotropic fluid mixtures: A review

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2013
Abstract The condensation of multi-component mixtures in tubes is critical to the function of many energy conversion processes. This paper reviews experimental and analytical studies of the coupled heat and mass transfer phenomena during condensation of different fluid mixtures in different in-tube geometries.

Calculating Circulation Concentration of Zeotropic Refrigerant Mixtures

HVAC&R Research, 1995
The circulation concentration of a zeotropic refrigerant mixture may differ from the refrigerant bulk concentration in a vapor compression cycle. The difference, defined as “concentration shift,” is mainly caused by the differential holdup in two-phase regions and the differential solubility of the oil.
