Zero-sequence current dynamics in parallel-connected voltage source converters

2009 IEEE Electric Ship Technologies Symposium, 2009
Multiple three-phase voltage source converters may be connected in parallel to supply an AC voltage bus or a load in excess of the rating of an individual power converter. Without a circulating path, a zero-sequence current generally does not exist in a single power converter; however, it typically exists in parallel-connected three-phase power ...

APF-based cancellation of the source-end zero sequence current

2010 International School on Nonsinusoidal Currents and Compensation, 2010
Analytical assessment of the successful neutral current cancellation methods is the main goal of this paper. Furthermore, proposing a generalized time-domain method is pursued in order to achieve full cancellation of the source-end neutral current under unbalanced and distorted load voltage waveforms.

Zero-Sequence Current Distribution Along Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1969
The zero-sequence current distribution among ground wires and the ground-return path of overhead transmission lines is subject to change in the vicinity of a ground fault and the feeding point. This paper introduces the concepts used in connection with the end-effect phenomena of transmission lines and describes the necessity for solving the end-effect

Wavelet Based Induction Motor Fault Diagnosis Using Zero Sequence Current

Journal of Computational and Theoretical Nanoscience, 2017
Induction motor stator fault is diagnosed by applying Discrete Wavelet transform on zero sequence components. The single phasing stator fault is created and diagnosed in the induction motor model developed in stationary reference frame, under varying load conditions. The stator inter-turn incipient fault is created and diagnosed in the induction motor

Fault Section Identification Based on Per-unit Zero Sequence Current

12th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2014), 2014
Although single phase to ground fault location in non-solid grounded networks has been studied for many years and a lot of research has been done, yet adequate solution for direct fault location of radial distribution network hasn't been made, especially for the distribution network with the neutral point grounded via arc suppression coil.

THE INFLUENCE OF ZERO SEQUENCE CURRENTS ON PHASE CURRENT REDUCTION IN ASYMMETRICALLY TAPPED SYSTEMS

SSRN Electronic Journal
This paper addresses the counter-intuitive phenomenon of phase current reduction in a three-phase system with asymmetrical tap changer positions. Specifically, the study examines cases where a transformer's phase B tap is stuck and is unable to switch while phases A and C are at lower taps.

Soil resistivity: Field tests and estimation of zero-sequence currents

2017 IEEE AFRICON, 2017
In this study, field measurements of soil resistivity using the 4-point Wenner test method were conducted in several parts of Gauteng, a province in South Africa. The data obtained were used to determine soil resistance values, and therefore to estimate zero-sequence current for a DigSilent™ simulated ground fault.

Coordination of Superconductive Fault Current Limiters With Zero-Sequence Current Protection of Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2014
A 500 kV saturated iron-core superconductive fault current limiter (SISFCL) has been designed to be installed in an extra high voltage (EHV) transmission system in southern China. We carried out studies on compatibility and coordination problems in the application of this kind of device in an EHV network.

Circulating zero-sequence current control of parallel three-phase inverters

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2006
A novel circulating zero-sequence current-control method for common DC-source parallel inverter systems is proposed and implemented in FPGA. The follower inverter can closely track the three-phase discontinuous PWM modulation waveforms of the master inverter and the circulating current caused by asynchronous modulation waveforms can be reduced.

A Review of System Grounding Methods and Zero Sequence Current Sources

2008 61st Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2008
The purpose of this paper is to provide a tutorial or "refresher" on grounding methods, sources of ground current, ground current flow in the power system, and how each impacts protective relaying. With retirements, new hires, reorganization, cross training, and so on, this subject, like many others, requires regular review to maintain the experience ...
