KY converter with zero voltage switching

2010 5th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2010
In this paper, the soft switching technique is applied to the KY converter to upgrade the efficiency in the neighborhood of the rated load and hence enhance its capability in industrial applications. The details of soft switching of the KY converter are illustrated along with some simulated and experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the ...

Zero-voltage-switching multi-resonant three-level converters

2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551), 2004
This paper proposes a family of zero-voltage-switching multiresonant three-level converters (ZVS-MR-TLCs), which are derived by adding a ZVS-MR multiresonant network to the TLCs. The arrangement of a multiresonant network results in the absorption of all the major parasitic components in the resonant circuit, including the switch output capacitor ...

A primary-switched line-side converter using zero voltage switching

Conference Record of the 2000 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Fifth IAS Annual Meeting and World Conference on Industrial Applications of Electrical Energy (Cat. No.00CH37129), 2001
A new primary-switched AC/DC power converter and its modulation are presented. It employs a single- or three-phase transformer, with a matrix converter (primary) and a conventional two-level converter (secondary). This allows galvanic isolation at medium-frequency zero-voltage primary commutation and five line-side voltage levels.

Analysis of a Zero-Voltage Switching Converter With Two Transformers

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2006
This brief presents an active-clamp zero-voltage switching converter. Two transformers connected in series are used, and each transformer can be operated as an inductor or a transformer. No output inductor is needed. An active-clamp circuit is used to recycle the energy stored in the transformer leakage.

A novel QRDCL circuit for zero voltage switched inverter

ISCAS'99. Proceedings of the 1999 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems VLSI (Cat. No.99CH36349), 2003
This paper presents an alternate quasi-resonant dc link (QRDCL) circuit for soft switched inverters which does not require paralleling of a charged capacitor with another charged capacitor or a voltage source. The circuit momentarily pulls down the DC link voltage to zero as commanded by the control circuit to facilitate zero voltage switching (ZVS) of

A zero-voltage transition boost converter using a zero-voltage switching auxiliary circuit

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2002
A soft switching boost converter with zero-voltage transition (ZVT) main switch using zero-voltage switching (ZVS) auxiliary switches is proposed. Various operating intervals of the converter are presented and analyzed. Design considerations are discussed.

Zero-voltage switching in switched current circuits

Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems - ISCAS '94, 2002
Traditionally the accuracy of switched-current circuits has been much lower than that of switched-capacitor circuits. To address this problem, an accurate high-speed switched-current sample-and-hold technique based on zero-voltage switching is presented.

Effect of switch capacitance on zero-voltage switching of resonant converters

PESC `92 Record. 23rd Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2003
The authors present an analysis of the series-parallel resonant power converter (SPRC) that includes the capacitance of the switches. New DC characteristics are obtained, and the regions where the converter operates with zero voltage switching are determined as a function of the switch capacitance.

A zero voltage switching switched capacitor voltage doubler

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2012
Switched capacitor converter has advantages such as no magnetic components, compact size. With the target to reach high power, high switching frequency is preferred. In order to achieve high efficiency, soft switching becomes vital. This paper proposes a soft switched voltage doubler and its PWM scheme, with which, all switches in the converter turns ...

Novel zero-current-switching-zero-voltage-switching converters

PESC Record. 27th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002
A new family of zero-current-switching-zero-voltage-switching (ZCSZVS) pulse-width-modulation (PWM) converters are proposed. With the proposed ZCSZVS concept, the PSPICE simulation results of the application to a single-switch three-phase PFC rectifier have been obtained and compared with those of hard-switching and ZCT applications in order to show ...
