Soil-physical aspects of zero-tillage experiments.

open access: yesNetherlands Journal of Agricultural Science, 1970
Structural determinations (visual rating, penetro-meter resistance, core sampling) in zero-tillage experiments on various soils (marine loam, river clay, sand etc) showed greater soil densities in unfilled plots than after plowing (20 cm), while mean pore-space and standard deviation of pore-space were generally lower in untilled plots.

Tillage and residue management effect on soil properties, crop performance and energy relations in greengram (Vigna radiata L.) under maize-based cropping systems

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research, 2015
Effect of tillage and crop residue management on soil properties, crop performance, energy relations and economics in greengram (Vigna radiata L.) was evaluated under four maize-based cropping systems in an Inceptisol of Delhi, India.

Examining the potential for climate change mitigation from zero tillage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The benefits of reduced and zero-tillage systems have been presented as reducing runoff, enhancing water retention and preventing soil erosion. There is also general agreement that the practice can conserve and enhance soil organic carbon (C) levels to ...

Comparative assessment of energy-cum-carbon flow of diverse tillage production systems for cleaner and sustainable crop production in the middle Indo-Gangetic Plains of South Asia

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
The most common cropping production system in South Asia, transplanted puddled rice followed by conventional-tillage wheat, is highly unsustainable, extremely energy-intensive, and emits a large amount of greenhouse gases.

Impact of different tillage methods on growth, development and productivity of maize (Zea mays)-wheat (Tritcum aestivum) cropping system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An experiment was conducted on a silty clay loam soil of Palampur during 2009–2011, to study the effect of different tillage methods in maize (Zea mays L.) wheat {Triticum aestivum (L.) emend. Fiori & Paol.} cropping system.

Influence of crop establishment and microbial inoculants on profitability and nutrient concentrations of summer greengram (Vigna radiata)

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2020
It was concluded that zero tillage with 2.5 t/ha residue of chickpea crop and combined inoculation of Rhizobium + PSB + AM Fungi gave higher productivity and profitability as well as enhanced macro and micro nutrients in grain and stover of summer ...

Zero Tillage Lead to Enhanced Productivity and Soil Health

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environment and Climate Change, 2023
Zero Tillage (ZT) is a critical agricultural practice that emphasizes minimal soil disturbance. This study explores the future prospects of ZT, focusing on three essential dimensions: technological advancements, climate change considerations, and potential growth in adoption rates.

Tillage and seeding strategies for wheat optimizing production in harvested rice fields with high soil moisture

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Suitable tillage and seeding strategies for wheat can be used to combat excessive residues and poor soil conditions in harvested rice fields. This study investigated the effects of different tillage (zero tillage and rotary tillage) and seeding methods ...
