Annular Bounds for the Zeros of a Polynomial [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2018
The problem of obtaining the smallest possible region containing all the zeros of a polynomial has been attracting more and more attention recently, and in this paper, we obtain several results providing the annular regions that contain all the zeros of ...

Zeros of quaternion polynomials

open access: yesApplied Mathematics Letters, 2001
For each \(q \in \mathbb H\) let \([q]\) be the equivalence class of all elements \(q'\) having the form \(xqx^{-1}\) with some \(x \in \mathbb H\). Then the authors show that for a quaternionic polynomial of the form \(f(x) = (x - x_1)\dots (x - x_n)\) the subset \(\text{zero}(f) \cap [x_r]\) is nonempty for each \(r\).

On the Zeros of Exponential Polynomials

open access: yesJournal of the ACM, 2023
We consider the problem of deciding the existence of real roots of real-valued exponential polynomials with algebraic coefficients. Such functions arise as solutions of linear differential equations with real algebraic coefficients. We focus on two problems: theZero Problem, which asks whether an exponential polynomial has a real root, and theInfinite ...

A condition for associativity of univariate resultants

open access: yesExamples and Counterexamples, 2023
We provide a condition on the occurrences of variables in polynomials and show that it ensures associativity of univariate resultants in non-trivial cases.

On the Elementary Symmetric Polynomials and the Zeros of Legendre Polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
In this paper, we seek to present some new identities for the elementary symmetric polynomials and use these identities to construct new explicit formulas for the Legendre polynomials.

Location of zeros of Wiener and distance polynomials. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The geometry of polynomials explores geometrical relationships between the zeros and the coefficients of a polynomial. A classical problem in this theory is to locate the zeros of a given polynomial by determining disks in the complex plane in which all ...

Location of the Zeros of Certain Complex-Valued Harmonic Polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
Finding the approximate region containing all the zeros of analytic polynomials is a well-studied problem. But the number of the zeros and regions containing all the zeros of complex-valued harmonic polynomials is relatively a fresh research area.

On the Eneström–Kakeya theorem for quaternionic polynomials

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2023
In this paper, we present certain results concerning the distribution of zeros of polynomials of a quaternionic variable and with quaternionic coefficients. We obtain ring shaped regions of Eneström–Kakeya type for the zeros of these polynomials and also

Bounds for the zeros of unilateral octonionic polynomials

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2021
In the present work it is proved that the zeros of a unilateral octonionic polynomial belong to the conjugacy classes of the latent roots of an appropriate lambda-matrix.
