Tribofilm Formation of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate as Oil Additives Impregnated in Porous Polyimide under Different Contacts.

Langmuir
To improve the tribological properties of porous polyimide (PPI), ZDDP-mixed PAO4 was impregnated in PPI (denoted as ZPPI), and the tribological properties of ZPPI under single- and double-contacts were investigated.

Studies in the stereochemistry of zinc(II). VII. Zinc complexes with dialkyldithiophosphates

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1970
A series of bis(O,O-dialkyldithiophosphato)zinc(11) complexes, ZnL2 (LH = (R0)2PS2H; R = Et, Pri, Bu, Bui, Bus, cyclohexyl), has been isolated. Pyridine adducts ZnL2(py)2 (R = Et, Pr, Pri, Bui) and ZnL2(py) (R = Pr, Pri, Bui) have also been obtained. Basic complexes ZnO,3ZnL2 (R = Et, Pr) have been isolated.

Mechanism of formation of antiwear films from zinc dialkyldithiophosphates

Tribology International, 1995
Recently developed experimental techniques have allowed better characterization of lubricant-derived antiwear and antifriction surface films. These techniques and the information obtained in earlier studies are being applied to fully formulated engine oils with the objective of assisting implementation of advanced fuel efficient and emissions friendly ...

Molecular-Reconfiguration-Driven Tribofilm Engineering: Synergistic Lubrication via Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate and a Triphenolic Antioxidant.

Langmuir
Designing high-performance lubricants with reduced ZDDP reliance requires a systematic insight into harmonizing its antiwear function with the antioxidant role of phenolic additives, which remains an unresolved dilemma.

Observation of the antiwear activity of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate additives

Wear, 1991
A wear machine in which samples were observed through the countersurface as they were sliding in lubricating engine oils was used to obtain insight into the antiwear action of zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZDDPs). Good antiwear activity was associated with the formation of a friction-polymer-like material in the oil at the leading edge of contacts and ...

Preferential Adsorption in the Lubrication Process of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate

A S L E Transactions, 1973
Paper chromatography has been used in combination with neutron activation analysis to analyze the polar lubricity additive zinc dihexyldithiophosphate. This additive is shown to contain small but significant quantities of both phosphorous and zinc-containing polar impurities.

Formation of Zinc Phosphate Polymers and Networks through the Insertion of Metathiophosphates into Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphates

Inorganic Chemistry, 2005
The interactions between metathiophosphates (MTPs) and zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZnDDPs) were explored through molecular simulation. The results highlight a novel reaction leading to the formation of zinc phosphate polymers and networks through the insertion of MTPs into ZnDDPs.

The Preparation and Nature of Surface Films from Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate

A S L E Transactions, 1980
An Amsler wear-testing machine has been modified to accept mechanisms by which the nominal line-contact between a rotating disk and a stationary flat plane can be traversed slowly along the plane. Lubricant reaction films formed at the contact are thus made available over an area of about 9 × 6 mm2.

Tribochemical effect of impurities in zinc dialkyldithiophosphate in engine oil

Lubrication Science, 2003
AbstractThis study deals with the effects of alcohols and ketones, two substances usually found in commercial zinc dialkyldithio‐phosphate (ZDDP), on the tribological behaviour of ZDDP. Experimental results show that two alcohol and ketone compounds, namely 2‐ethylhexanol and methyl isopropyl ketone, respectively, have an influence on the lubricity ...

Filtration of TsDDF additive [zinc dialkyldithiophosphate] on thermochemically activated filtroperlites

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1977
These experiments were performed in a laboratory pressure filter with a constant pressure of 5.104 N.m -=. The standard precoat with the filter aid was 1 kg/m 2 of filter surface, and the filter aid was also metered into the slurry being filtered at a rate of 1% of the slurry weight. The filter plate was a twill-weave metal screen (Ff = 20 cm=).
