Toxicity of the Zinc Oxide and Vermiculite/Zinc Oxide Nanomaterials
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2019Nanomaterials and nanocomposite materials on the base of zinc oxide (ZnO) are being produced and applied in our daily life at a rapid pace mainly as additives to the different polymer materials. The antibacterial behaviors of ZnO nanoparticles are intensively studied but related health and environmental toxicity assessments are lagging behind.

A METHOD for determining excess zinc in zinc oxide has been devised1. It is based on measurement of the hydrogen produced by the excess metal when the sample is dissolved in hydrochloric acid. It will detect 0.05 µgm. of excess zinc. This communication summarizes the results obtained by the method with oxide in various states.

Zinc Oxide and Zinc-Cadmium Oxide Phosphors
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1968Zinc oxide phosphors may emit in four different bands, the ultraviolet near‐edge emission, the common green band (possibly involving sulfur), a yellow‐orange band due to selenium, and a red to near infrared band due to ammonia. About 10% of can be replaced by with a corresponding shift, to lower energies, of the optical absorption edge, of the near ...

Interstitial zinc in zinc oxide
Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1957Abstract Methods of introducing interstitial zinc into single crystals of zinc oxide are described which involve heating the crystals in zinc vapor followed by rapid quenching. The interstitial zinc atoms act as donors with a low ionization energy and they are observed by the extra conductivity which they impart to the crystals.

Research on the oxidation characteristics of zinc sulfite in the zinc oxide desulfurization process
Environmental Technology, 2020Aiming at the pollution problem of low-content SO2 in non-ferrous metal production industry, the oxidation kinetics of zinc sulfite in the zinc oxide desulfurization process was studied. The concentration change of Zn2+, variation of pH, temperature and apparent activation energy in the oxidation process of two ZnSO3 samples were investigated ...

Copper/zinc oxide mixtures show strong synergistic effects when used together as catalysts, particularly in methanol synthesis and water-gas-shift reactions. The authors have employed semiempirical quantum-mechanical calculations (INDO) to study the electronic properties of ZnO, CuO, and CuO/sub 2/ clusters (less than or equal to 26 atoms), of Cu ...

Properties of zinc oxide films prepared by the oxidation of diethyl zinc
Journal of Applied Physics, 1981Polycrystalline transparent semiconducting zinc oxide films have been deposited by the oxidation of diethyl zinc. The film growth rate is controlled by a complex multistep oxidation process which is dominated by radical reactions. The effect of substrate temperature and gas pressures have been studied.
