Retentive and compressive strengths of modified zinc oxide–eugenol cements
Journal of Dentistry, 2000This investigation sought to improve the handling and physical properties of a commonly used temporary zinc oxide-eugenol cement by changing the base/accelerator (B/A) ratio or combining it with a petroleum jelly or fluoride varnish.Twelve modifications of a temporary cement were evaluated in terms of retentive strength, compressive strength at 24 h ...

Zinc oxide eugenol cements. VI. Effect of zinc oxide type on the setting reactions
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1982AbstractThe particle size and adsorbed water on zinc oxide from various sources have been investigated and related to the reactivity with eugenol. The reactivity of zinc oxide with eugenol alone increases with the amount of water reversibly adsorbed.

Status Report on Zinc Oxide-Eugenol and Modified Cements
The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1968The stronger zinc oxide-eugenol cements currently available are capable of withstanding the forces developed during condensation of amalgam and those forces which may subsequently be transmitted through the restoration during function.

Examination of the Test for Compressive Strength Applied to Zinc Oxide Eugenol Cements
Journal of Dental Research, 1976The test for compressive strength has been studied using zinc oxide eugenol cements. The distribution of results is negatively skewed; however, removal of outlying results converts it to a normal one. Test parameters have little effect on results with the exception of the shape of the test cylinder.

Cementation of fixed bridge prosthesis with zinc oxide-rosin-eugenol cements
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1958Abstract Clinical experience has shown that there is a justification for the cementation of fixed prosthesis by means of zinc oxide-rosin-eugenol cements. The successful employment of a temporary cementation technique depends upon the application of a thorough understanding of its disadvantages as well as its advantages.
