Semiconductor waveguide fabrication for photonics applications is usually performed in a planar geometry. However, over the past decade a new field of semiconductor-based optical fiber devices has emerged. The drawing of soft chalcogenide semiconductor glasses together with low melting point metals allows for meters-long distributed photoconductive ...

Electrodeposition of zinc selenide
Thin Solid Films, 1994Abstract The synthesis of polycrystalline thin films of cubic ZnSe by electrochemical plating on conducting substrates is described. The influence of deposition parameters such as electrolyte composition, deposition potential and temperature on the crystallanity and on the chemical composition of the films is discussed.

Electroluminescence in zinc selenide
Solid-State Electronics, 1975Abstract The electroluminescent properties of Schottky diodes formed from single cyrstals of zinc selenide containing manganese, manganese and aluminium, aluminium or chlorine are discussed. All such diodes emitted a yellow band of variable width in reverse bias, the maximum of which lay between wavelengths of 5785 (2·14 eV) and 6050 A (2·05 eV ...

Nonstoichiometry of Zinc Selenide
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1993Abstract In the present study the homogeneity limits of zinc selenide in equilibrium with zinc melt have been investigated. The equilibrium concentration of the excess Zn in ZnSe has been determined by the extraction method. The concentration of excess Zn in ZnSe decreases when the temperature and pressure of zinc vapor are decreased.

The growth and defect structure of single crystals of zinc selenide and zinc sulpho-selenide
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1976Abstract Single crystals of zinc selenide and solid solutions of zinc sulpho-selenide with sulphur compositions up to 60% have been grown successfully by a vapour phase technique. The growth interface of all boules examined lies within 20° of a {111} non-metal face of the cubic crystals.

Triple-Crystal Zinc Selenide Nanobelts
The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2007One-dimensional ZnSe nanobelts with three-dimensional triple-crystal architecture have been fabricated on Au-coated Si substrates by thermal evaporation of ZnSe powders. The as-synthesized triple-crystal ZnSe nanobelts are a metastable 2H-wurtzite structure while the typical structure of ZnSe nanocrystal is a stable zinc blend.

Luminescent quantum dots conjugated with highly selective molecular recognition ligands are widely used for targeting and imaging biological structures. In this paper, water soluble cholinomimetic cadmium selenide (core), zinc selenide/zinc sulfide (shell) quantum dots were synthesized for targeting cholinergic sites.

Electroluminescence in zinc sulpho-selenide and in zinc sulphide
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1977Light-emitting devices with electrode areas of 1 mm2 have been prepared on single crystals of solid solutions of zinc selenide and zinc sulphide. It is shown that it is relatively easy to prepare ohmic contacts with indium on samples containing lp to 80% molar of sulphur.

The electrical properties of zinc selenide
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1976The electrical conductivity and Hall coefficient of a variety of single crystals of zinc selenide have been measured. As-grown, undoped crystals have a resistivity ( approximately 1012 Omega cm) which is too large for successful Hall measurements to be made.
