Systems Zirconium-Molybdenum and Zirconium-Wolfram

JOM, 1953
On the basis of metallographic analysis, incipient melting data, thermal analysis work, and X-ray diffraction, phase relationships in the 0 to 50 atomic pct alloy content were carefully resolved. Phase relationships in the higher alloy content regions were outlined. A single intermediate phase, peritectically formed, of the form ZrX2 was established in

Zirconium and Zirconium Alloy Castings

2008
Abstract This article describes typical foundry practices used to commercially produce zirconium castings. The foundry practices are divided into two sections, namely, melting and casting. The article discusses various melting processes, such as vacuum arc skull melting, induction skull melting, and vacuum induction melting, and various ...

Performance of Zirconium and Zirconium Alloys in Organics

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1996
Abstract Zirconium and its alloys are well known for their corrosion resistance in a broad range of inorganic and organic media. They have played a key role in advancing the production technologies of urea and formic, acetic, hydroxyacetic, lactic, and methacrylic acids, methyl methacrylate, rayon, alcohols, and phenolic resins, etc ...

The precipitation of γ-zirconium hydride in zirconium

Acta Metallurgica, 1978
Abstract A mechanism for the precipitation of γ-zirconium hydride in zirconium is presented which does not require the diffusion of zirconium. The transformation is completed by shears caused by 1 3 〈1010〉 Shockley partial dislocations on alternate zirconium basal planes, either by homogeneous nucleation or at lattice imperfections ...

Determination of zirconium in zirconium metal and zirconium powder by use of mandelic acid

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1966
Abstract An accurate gravimetric method is proposed for the determination of zirconium in zirconium metal and zirconium powder by use of mandelic acid. The sample is dissolved in a mixture of hydrofluoric, nitric, perchloric and sulfuric acids, the solution is evaporated to dryness, and the salts are dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid.

Zirconium Phosphonates

2011
This contribution presents a survey of the various aspects of the chemistry of Zr phosphonates, throughout 30 years of activity of the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry of Perugia on this topic. These inorganic–organic compounds are characterized by a very low solubility and chemical robustness, and their structure and reactivity can be easily ...
