Zirconium Borohydride as a Zirconium Boride Precursor

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1988
Synthesis of zirconium boride, ZrB 2 , from zirconium borohydride, Zr(BH 4 ) 4 , has been explored by a variety of methods, including chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in a hot tube, laser CVD with both continuous ...

Preparation of Zirconium Boride Powder

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1995
An intermediate reaction in the synthesis of ZrB 2 powder by the reduction of ZrO 2 with B 4 C and carbon was confirmed through both thermodynamical calculation and experimental results.

Preparation of zirconium boride

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 1964
1. It is shown that zirconium boride of the stoichiometric, composition, containing an insignificant amount of impurities, can be produced from commercially-pure starting materials (B4C, ZrO2). 2. A study was made of the influence exerted by the chemical composition and particle size of the starting boron carbide on the chemical and phase

Thermodynamics of oxidation of zirconium and hafnium borides

Russian Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, 2016
Gibbs thermodynamic potentials of oxidation of zirconium and hafnium diborides with molecular and atomic oxygen and nitrogen monoxide were calculated for a temperature range of 20–2500°C. Oxidation of zirconium and hafnium borides with atomic oxygen was found to be the most expected reaction.

Structural prediction for zirconium boride monolayer

Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures, 2019
Abstract A stable zirconium boride monolayer with the chemical formula of ZrB4 has been identified by using the first-principles calculations. It has a planar structure by extending the Zr-hexagon, which is formed by jointing three ZrB4 unit cells. The novel ZrB4 monolayer has sound thermodynamic, kinetic and thermal stabilities and can retain its ...

Microstructural characterization of as-fabricated monolithic plates with boron carbide, aluminum boride, and zirconium boride burnable absorbers

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2022
Abstract The use of burnable absorbers can be beneficial for nuclear reactors by extending the fuel's operational cycle, providing additional criticality control, and flattening the power profile. In this work, three burnable absorber materials (boron carbide, aluminum boride, and zirconium boride) embedded in aluminum have been fabricated into foils

The freezing on of zirconium boride thermocouple sheaths

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 1965
1. The freezing on method of preparation of zirconium boride sheaths is highly promising, and secures blank-shaping properties which are not exceeded by the properties of sheaths made by die extrusion. 2. The best processing characteristics are shown by fine zirconium boride powder slips with 8–10% paraffin wax and 1% of oleic acid, from

SINTERING OF ZIRCONIUM BORIDE WITH ACTIVATING ADDITIONS

Powder Metallurgy, 1965
Since the hot pressing of ZrB2 compacts has a number of limitations, the possibility of pressureless sintering by the addition of small amounts of various metals to provide a liquid phase has been investigated. Changes in microstructure and porosity of the compacts have been studied.
