New Approach to Oligonucleotide Microarrays Using Zirconium Phosphonate-Modified Surfaces

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004
A new approach to oligonucleotide arrays is demonstrated that utilizes zirconium phosphonate-derivatized glass slides. The active slides are prepared by binding Zr(4+) to surfaces terminated with organophosphonate groups previously deposited using either Langmuir-Blodgett or self-assembled monolayer methods.

Surface Coverage of Self-Assembed Zirconium Perylene Phosphonate Derivative Films on Quartz and Crystal Growth of Zirconium Perylene Phosphonate Derivative

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1999
Abstract The N,N′-bis(benzyl phosphonic acid)-3,4,9,10-perylene (dicarboximide) (BPPI) has been known as a photoconducting material in xerography and its layer-by-layer growth with Zr4+ ion as a self-assembled multilayer film has been studied. We describe a method for measuring the relative surface coverage of self-assembled zirconium-BPPI monolayer on

Intercalation of proteins into α-Zirconium phosphonates: tuning the binding affinities with phosphonate functions

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2005
Abstract Novel bioactive materials are prepared by the intercalation of proteins in the galleries of α-Zirconium phosphonates. α-Zirconium carboxymethylphosphonate (α-Zr(O3PCH2COOH)2 · xH2O), (α-ZrCMP), and α-Zirconium carboxyethylphosphonate (α-Zr(O3PCH2CH2COOH)2 · xH2O), (α-ZrCEP) indicated distinct affinities for four different proteins. A general

3P and 3C chemical-shift tensors in zirconium phosphonates

Journal of Magnetic Resonance (1969), 1992
Abstract The orientations of the 31 P phosphonate and 13 C carboxyl chemical-shift tensors in the molecular frame of layered Zr(O 3 PCH 2 OOH) 2 have been determined. The magnitudes of the three principal elements of these tensors were extracted from the 31 P and 13 C chemical-shift anisotropy (CSA) powder patterns, respectively, of Zr(O 3 PCH 2

α-Zirconium phosphonates as new supports for metallocene catalysts

Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical, 2004
Abstract Homoleptic and mixed α-zirconium phosphonates (ZrPs) α-Zr(O 3 PR) 2 (R = Me, Bu n , Bu i , Hex, Oct and Ph) and α-Zr(O 3 PR 1 ) 2− x (O 3 PR 2 ) x were readily prepared in high yields from zirconyl choride and the corresponding phosphonic acids in suitable solvent mixtures under hydrothermal conditions at low fluoride concentrations.

Zirconium Phosphonate Frameworks Covalently Pillared with a Bipyridine Moiety

Chemistry of Materials, 2000
This paper describes for the first time the covalent immobilization of 5,5‘-bis(dihydroxyphosphoryl)-2,2‘-bipyridine (H2O3P-bipy-PO3H2:  1) within the interlayer gallery of α and γ zirconium phosphonate structures. A mixed phosphite/phosphonate compound formulated as Zr(HPO3)0.8(O3P-bipy-PO3)0.6·5.3H2O was obtained by reaction of 5,5‘-bis ...

Ultrathin micropatterned porphyrin films assembled via zirconium phosphonate chemistry

Polyhedron, 2003
The synthesis of a phosphonic-acid-functionalized porphyrin is presented and a procedure for the reproducible assembly of the porphyrins into thin films on glass or conductive glass surfaces is described. The assembly scheme, which utilizes established zirconium phosphonate (ZrP) chemistry, yields highly oriented films (normal to the surface) of well ...

Synthesis and catalytic application of zirconium-substituted aminoethyl phosphonate

Journal of Materials Science, 2006
A new type of zirconium-substituted aminoethyl phosphonate material is prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, ICP, FTIR, XRD, 31P-MAS NMR, TG, DTG and DSC. XRD indicates that the material is amorphous. The 31P-MAS NMR of the material exhibits a single resonance, and thermogravimetry shows that the material has three steps mass loss at ...

CRYSTAL ENGINEERING ON MULTIFUNCTIONAL LAYERED ZIRCONIUM PHOSPHONATES

2013
Crystal engineering is the design and synthesis of molecular solid-state structures with desired properties, based on the understanding and exploitation of intermolecular interactions. Layered zirconium phosphonates can be considered “tailor-made” materials that can be designed by exploiting the crystal engineering principles.

Molecular Design of Two-Dimensional Zirconium Phosphonate Catalysts

1991
Preparation and characterization of two-dimensional zirconium phosphonate derivatives in either crystalline or amorphous forms have been investigated. Two composite zirconium phosphonates in single crystal phase have also been investigated and characterized by XRD, 13C-, and 31P-MASNMR.
