Solvation Structure Design for Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries
Aqueous Zn batteries are promising energy storage devices for large-scale energy-storage due to low cost and high energy density. However, their lifespan is limited by the water decomposition and Zn dendrite growth. Here, we suppress water reduction and Zn dendrite growth in dilute aqueous electrolyte by adding dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) into ZnCl2-H2O,

Constructing nano‐channeled tin layer on metal zinc for high‐performance zinc‐ion batteries anode
Rechargeable aqueous zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) have recently been comprehensively studied because of metal zinc (Zn) unique properties. However, the problems of metal zinc anode in ZIBs, namely, dendrite formation and side reactions, seriously shorten ...

Strategies for the Stabilization of Zn Metal Anodes for Zn‐Ion Batteries
AbstractZinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) are regarded as a promising candidate for next‐generation energy storage systems due to their high safety, resource availability, and environmental friendliness. Nevertheless, the instability of the Zn metal anode has impeded ZIBs from being reliably deployed in their proposed applications.

The Stable 3D Zn Electrode for High-Power Density Zn Metal Batteries
A stable Zn metal electrode can develop rechargeable zinc metal batteries (RZMBs) which have the high theoretical capacity (820 mAh g−1), low redox potential, and intrinsic safety. However, the corrosion of Zn metal in aqueous electrolytes and Zn dendrite formation during the plating process lead to poor cycling and thus hinder the development of RZMBs.

Basal Plane Graphene Coated Zn Powder for High Performance Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries. [PDF]
A mechanofusion‐driven dry coating forms a hydrophobic graphene shell on Zn powder, stabilizing the electrode‐electrolyte interface. This basal‐plane‐rich protective layer modifies the Zn2+ solvation environment and promotes preferential growth along the (002) plane, suppressing dendrite and parasitic reactions.

An In‐Depth Study of Zn Metal Surface Chemistry for Advanced Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries
AbstractAlthough Zn metal has been regarded as the most promising anode for aqueous batteries, it persistently suffers from serious side reactions and dendrite growth in mild electrolyte. Spontaneous Zn corrosion and hydrogen evolution damage the shelf life and calendar life of Zn‐based batteries, severely affecting their industrial applications ...
