Stereometric Molecular Engineering for Ultra‐Stable Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Stereochemical configuration of molecular additives greatly influences interfacial adsorption at the Zn surface. The optimal tilted dual‐anchored adsorption geometry of myo‐inositol constructs a water‐deficient interface and regulates the solvation structure.

Studies on Counter Electrode Materials in Aqueous Zinc Half-Cell Configurations. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Coulombic efficiency is a key metric for zinc reversibility in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries, but its reliability in zinc half‐cells is strongly influenced by poorly understood counter‐electrode materials. By systematically comparing Cu, Ti, stainless steel, and Al to identify reactions associated with current collectors, we find that Ti is the metal ...

Exploring Hybrid Electrolytes for Zn Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials
Abstract Aqueous zinc metal batteries (AZBs) have emerged as promising alternatives to lithium‐based energy storage systems owing to their low cost, intrinsic safety, and abundant elemental resources. However, their commercial viability has been severely restricted by critical challenges such as dendrite growth, chemical corrosion ...

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Hybrid Metal-Organic Framework-Derived Dual Active Site Catalysts Enabling Surface-Enriched Cathode and Modified Zinc Anode for Long-Life Zinc-Air Batteries. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
This work demonstrates the implementation of MOF‐assisted anode and cathode materials for prolonged cycling of zinc‐air batteries with strong redox capability and structural stability. ABSTRACT The surface modification of zinc anodes and the development of effective cathode dual‐functional oxygen electrocatalysts remain of paramount interest for ...

Effects of LLZO Microstructure Porosity, LLZO/Li‐Metal Interfacial Polarization Resistance, and Applied Areal Current Density on Li‐Metal Dendrite Formation in LLZO Bilayer Symmetric Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The effects of solid‐state electrolyte architecture and electrolyte/electrode interfacial polarization resistance on Critical Current Density and the risks for “interfacial” and “internal” Li‐metal dendrite formation were investigated in simulations of FIB‐reconstructed porous‐dense Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) “bilayers”, providing insight for full cells ...

Gel Electrolyte Constructing Zn (002) Deposition Crystal Plane Toward Highly Stable Zn Anode

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Zinc (Zn) metal anode has been widely evaluated in aqueous Zn batteries. Nevertheless, the dendrite formation issue and consecutive side reactions severely impede the practical applications of Zn metal at high current densities.
