Percolation effects in dc degradation of ZnO varistors [PDF]
For quantitative estimation of the degree of electrical disorder (electrical inhomogeneity) in ZnO varistor ceramics caused by a variation in the barrier height at different grain boundaries in a sample, the comparison of threshold electric fields ...

The abnormal expansion associated with the simultaneous synthesis and sintering of Zn2SnO4 from ZnO and SnO2 is due to the reaction mechanism and correlated with the conversion. This phenomenon opens the way to manufacture porous ceramics without the addition of pore generators, simplifying the process, and especially the thermal treatment.

Effect of the addition of ZnO seeds on the electrical proprieties of ZnO-based varistors [PDF]
ZnO has the characteristic of presenting an intermediate value for the effective 3 eV barrier at room temperature. ZnO ceramics are applied in high-voltage systems or circuits.

ABSTRACT When the surge arrester is subjected to the working voltage for an extended period, it undergoes alternating current (AC) aging, which degrades the arrester's parameters and affects the safety of the power grid. Ni2O3 is an important additive in the ZnO varistor formulation, and its doping ratio significantly influences the performance of the ...

Abstract Microstructure homogeneity and grain size reduction are needed to ensure the current uniformity and reliability required in metal oxide varistors for DC circuit breakers. Cold sintering (CS)–a low‐temperature digestive liquid and high‐pressure densification process–has previously shown reduced grain growth, but it is not clear how the lower ...

Modeling of electrical transport in Zinc Oxide varistors [PDF]
The electrical transport in zinc oxide (ZnO) varistors is analyzed using microstructural material modeling. The fully three dimensional current distribution is computed by means of a nonlinear equivalent circuit model representing the assembly of current

Control of Varistor Voltage by Grain-size Control of Bi-added ZnO Varistors
Relationship between the grain size of ZnO and the amounts of Bi and Sb for Bi-Ba-Sb-Co-Mn-added ZnO was investigated. The amount of Bi at which the grain size of ZnO became the maximum shifted to the notably larger one by adding small amount of Sb such as 0.01 mol%.

Fabrication and electrical characteristics of flash-sintered SiO2-doped ZnO-Bi2O3-MnO2 varistors
The dense ZnO-Bi2O3-MnO2-xSiO2 (ZBMS) varistors for x = 0, 1, 2, 3 wt% were fabricated by flash sintering method under the low temperature of 850 °C within 2 min. The sample temperature was estimated by a black body radiation model in the flash sintering

With the goal of fabricating varistors with low breakdown voltages (varistor voltages), the effect of adding Sb to Bi-Co-Mn-Ba-added ZnO varistors on the ZnO grain size was investigated. To obtain a uniform ZnO grain size without reducing the grain size,
