Peak Demand Management and Voltage Regulation Using Coordinated Virtual Power Plant Controls

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The aggregation of distributed energy resources (DERs) enables them to provide various grid services as a virtual power plant (VPP). Utilities use enterprise control solutions, such as advanced distribution management systems (ADMS) and distributed ...

Waveform-level time-domain simulation comparison study of three shipboard power system architectures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Detailed waveform-level modeling and simulation of three alternative shipboard power system architectures is presented herein. The three system architectures are based on conventional 60Hz medium-voltage ac (MVAC), higherfrequency 240Hz medium-voltage ac

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Network-constrained models of liberalized electricity markets: the devil is in the details [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Numerical models for electricity markets are frequently used to inform and support decisions. How robust are the results? Three research groups used the same, realistic data set for generators, demand and transmission network as input for their numerical

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

On how fast ions enhance the regulation of drift wave turbulence by zonal flows

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
This paper presents a mechanism for enhanced regulation of drift wave turbulence by zonal flows in the presence of a fast ion population. It demonstrates that dilution effects due to the energetic particles (EPs) have a far-reaching impact on all aspects
