Zoochorie et premiers stades de la régénération naturelle après coupe en forêt guyanaise
Processes leading to forest regeneration in a mature rain forest of French Guiana were studied on six plots representing initial stages of regeneration, from 2 to 10 years following clear-cutting. The first woody species to appear in plots after tree felling are light demanding species growing from seeds remaining dormant in the rain forest soil.

Mecanismos de dispersão de diásporos e recrutamento de plântulas evitam a competição intra-específica e possibilitam a colonização de novos ambientes. Em áreas de transição entre florestas e vegetação campestre esses processos não são aleatórios, e sim ...

Inferring Endozoochory From Ingestion to Germination Through Biological Filters: Brown Bear Feces as a Case Study. [PDF]
Our study investigated the combined effect of methods and endozoochorous filters (ingestion, mastication, gut passage and fecal matrix) on the inference of endozoochory. Our results highlighted differences according to the method used on the inference of endozoochory in terms of number of taxa and plant life forms, while inducing variable reliability ...

Trees and Regeneration in Rubber Agroforests and Other Forest-derived Vegetation in Jambi (Sumatra, Indonesia) [PDF]
The rubber agroforests (RAF) of Indonesia provide a dynamic interface between natural processes of forest regeneration and human's management targeting the harvesting of latex with minimum investment of time and financial resources ...

Stratified sampling enhances the understanding of bat–fruit networks in the southern Atlantic Forest
Few studies have sought to understand the vertical patterns of bat–fruit systems, and therefore, it is not possible to evaluate whether interpretations based on data collected from a single stratum adequately represent the interaction patterns of this system. In this context, we evaluated the dissimilarity in the assemblage of frugivorous bats, plants,

A comprehensive census of a hectare of cerrado s.s. in southeastern Brazil, a small-tree and scrub woodland physiognomy, allowed the evaluation of whether pollination and dispersal modes are correlated with the stratification of the vegetation and if so,

Inequalities in intraspecific plant–lemur interactions drive seed dispersal patterns
Biotic interactions occur between individuals and accumulate to shape species‐level interaction structure across a community. Skewed interaction structures, where a few individuals are highly connected and most have few interactions, are increasingly identified at the individual‐level.

The diet of the Guianan Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola rupicola) was studied in a pristine lowland rainforest, near an inselberg in French Guiana. Droppings were collected under a nest and observations were conducted on a radio-tagged female. Nestlings were mostly fed fruit, but not exclusively so, as insects, small snakes, and lizards were also ...
