Zoom to Learn, Learn to Zoom

open access: yes2019 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2019
This paper shows that when applying machine learning to digital zoom, it is beneficial to operate on real, RAW sensor data. Existing learning-based super-resolution methods do not use real sensor data, instead operating on processed RGB images.

Zoom In and Out: A Mixed-scale Triplet Network for Camouflaged Object Detection [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2022
The recently proposed camouflaged object detection (COD) attempts to segment objects that are visually blended into their surroundings, which is extremely complex and difficult in real-world scenarios.

Cascaded Zoom-in Detector for High Resolution Aerial Images [PDF]

open access: yes2023 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), 2023
Detecting objects in aerial images is challenging because they are typically composed of crowded small objects distributed non-uniformly over high-resolution (in terms of pixel size) images.

Zoom Out and Observe: News Environment Perception for Fake News Detection [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2022
Fake news detection is crucial for preventing the dissemination of misinformation on social media. To differentiate fake news from real ones, existing methods observe the language patterns of the news post and “zoom in” to verify its content with ...

Measuring Students’ Use of Zoom Application in Language Course Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)

open access: yesJournal of Psycholinguistic Research, 2021
The study uses technology acceptance model (TAM) to gain insights into user reactions to the technology adopted for language learning. The study aims to analyze the correlation between the variables of TAM on using Zoom application in language learning ...

Looking at the ‘field’ through a Zoom lens: Methodological reflections on conducting online research during a global pandemic

open access: yesQualitative Research, 2021
For many social science scholars, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to re-think our approaches to research. As a result of new social distancing measures, those of us who conduct in-person qualitative and ethnographic research have faced significant ...
