Abstract Laboratory culturing media for the 21 strains of the three subgenera Zoophthora, Erynia , and Neopandora of the genus Zoophthora were discussed. The activity of chitinase, lipase, protease, and amylase, which characterize these fungi, was evaluated.

The Mode of Germination of Zoophthora Radicans Zygospores
Mycologia, 1982Dormancy of Zoophthora radicans resting spores was broken by storage at 4 C and 100% r.h. for 4-5 months. Germination began in 2-4 da at 16 C on water agar; maximum germination of 70% was observed after 20 da, either in continuous light or dark. Germination was similar to that previously described for Z.

Neutral lipids of fungus Zoophthora
Journal of Basic Microbiology, 1995AbstractCultivation of Zoophthora (Erynia) neoaphidis, in comparison with other species of Zoophthora genus, requires more complex nitrogen source. The best mycelium growth was obtained when 8 day old mycelium was used as an inoculum for liquid culture.

Capilliconidia as infective spores in Zoophthora phalloides (Entomophthorales)
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1985When populations of Myzus persicae cultured on detached capsicum leaves were exposed to primary conidia of Zoophthora phalloides there was no consistent relationship between inoculum density and mortality, and few primary conidia were found on aphids. However, after 48 h at 100% r.h., many aphids bore accumulations of capilliconidia (secondary spores ...

Cryopreservation of Zoophthora radicans (Zygomycetes, Entomophthorales) in Liquid Nitrogen
Cryobiology, 1994Mycelia of the entomopathogenic fungus Zoophthora radicans (Zygomycetes, Entomophthorales), isolate ARSEF 1590, were frozen at three cooling rates: slow, intermediate, and ultrarapid. The cryoprotectants glycerol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), 1,2-propanediol, and methanol were tested at concentrations of 5, 10, 10 (+0.5 M sucrose), and 20% (v/v) at the ...

Zoophthora phalloides . [Descriptions of Fungi and Bacteria].
Descriptions of Fungi and Bacteria, 1984Abstract A description is provided for Zoophthora phalloides . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae), many species, but in France, where most records have been made, particularly
