Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Biodegradable Mg-Zr-Ca alloys for bone implant materials
Mg–Zr–Ca alloys were developed for new biodegradable bone implant materials. The microstructure and mechanical property of the Mg–xZr–yCa [x=0·5, 1·0% and y=1·0, 2·0% (wt-% hereafter)] alloys were characterised by optical microscopy, compressive and ...

Comparative study of Uranium diffusion in Zry-4 and pure α-Zr
Throughout the α-spectrometry U diffusion in pure Zry-4 was studied and compared with pure α-Zr in the temperature range 843-1093 K in order to analyze the diffusion process in both matrices.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Electrochromism via reversible electrodeposition of solid iodine
Electrochromic materials were discovered in the 1960s when scientists observed reversible changes between the light and dark states in WO3 thin films under different voltages.
