Improvement in grain refinement efficiency of Mg–Zr master alloy for magnesium alloy by friction stir processing

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2014
Previous studies have proved that the zirconium (Zr) alloying and grain refining performance of a Mg–Zr master alloy on Mg alloy is closely related to the distribution of Zr particle size, and a Mg–Zr master alloy with more Zr particles in size range of ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Insights into the accessibility of Zr in Zr/SBA-15 mesoporous silica supports with increasing Zr loadings [PDF]

open access: yesMicroporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2016
Oxide-promoted SBA-15 materials have been shown to be profitable in a wide variety of catalytic reactions of environmental interest. Zr-SBA-15 materials have been found to be of particular interest in hydrotreating, biomass conversion and Fisher–Tropsch synthesis.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Determination of Hf, Ti and Zr in Zirconium-Titanium Placer by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2013
Zirconium titanium placer is an ore which is extremely difficult to be digested. It is almost insoluble in all kind of acid except HF. Moreover, Hf, Ti and Zr in the ore tends to hydrolyze to form insoluble partial hafnium acid, metatitanic acid and ...

Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Effect of annealing temperature on crystallographic texture, magnetic and microwave properties of barium ferrite thin films

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
Due to it has large saturation magnetization (Ms), high magnetocrystalline anisotropy field and high ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) frequency, barium ferrite (BaM) has attracted more and more attentions in the fields of magnetic recording media, permanent
