Sliding wear of Cr–Al2O3–ZrO2 and Mo–Al2O3–ZrO2 composites

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2005
The sliding wear behavior of a number of reactively sintered metal-alumina- composites (s-MAC) containing zirconia and pure alumina and yttria-stabilized zirconia (3Y-TZP) reference materials were investigated using a ball-on-disk method. Samples were tested against stainless steel (s/steel) and 3Y-TZP ball-sliders.

ZrO2 and ZrO2SiC particle reinforced MoSi2 matrix composites

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1992
Abstract ZrO 2 MoSi 2 and (ZrO 2 SiC)MoSi 2 composites were fabricated by hot pressing-hot isostatic pressing at 1700 °C. No reactions between ZrO 2 , SiC and MoSi 2 were observed. An amorphous silica glassy phase was present in all composites.

The ZrO2-rich region of the ZrO2-MgO system

Journal of Materials Science, 1991
The solubility limits of MgO in tetragonal zirconia were studied by combining the differential thermal analysis data and X-ray disappearing phase method. From these experiments a eutectoid reaction, tetragonal ZrO2 solid solution → monoclinic ZrO2 solid solution + MgO, at 1120±10 °C and 1.6±0.2 mol% MgO was established.

Metastable phase formation in the TiO2-ZrO2 and CdO-ZrO2 systems

Solid State Ionics, 1997
Samples of zirconium oxide doped with titanium oxide or cadmium oxide, prepared as a divided state, were examined to investigate the effect of the foreign ions on the zirconia phase transition. Thermal treatments (1173 K in H 2 for TiO 2 -ZrO 2 : 1073 K in air for CdO-ZrO 2 ) caused the incorporation of titanium or cadmium in solid solution in the ...

Study of laser created ZRO2 and hydroxyapatite/ZrO2 films for implantology

Biomolecular Engineering, 2007
Thin films of ZrO2 and hydroxyapatite/ZrO2 were created by excimer laser ablation on Ti6Al4V substrates. ZrO2 layers were fabricated in vacuum by KrF laser at various substrate temperatures and hydroxyapatite (HA) layers were fabricated in water vapor ambient by ArF laser and in water vapor/argon ambient by KrF excimer laser.

Supported oxides: Preparation, characterization and catalytic activity of CrOx/ZrO2, MoOx/ZrO2 and VOx/ZrO2

Catalysis Today, 1998
Abstract In the paper, we review the preparation and the characterization of CrOx/ZrO2, MoOx/ZrO2 and VOx/ZrO2. Catalysts were prepared by various methods (equilibrium adsorption, impregnation or mechanical mixing) and characterized by XRD, XPS, ESR and FTIR techniques. In the paper, we also review the catalytic activity of the ZrO2 supported systems

Steam Explosion Experiments Using ZrO2 and ZrO2/UO2 Mixture

10th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, Volume 3, 2002
Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has been carrying an experimental research program on the steam explosion named “Test for Real cOrium Interaction with water (TROI)” since 1997. The objective of the program is to investigate whether the corium would lead to an energetic steam explosion and to measure the conversion ratio of the energetic ...

Structure and properties of solid solutions in the systems ZrO2-MgO, ZrO2-CaO, and ZrO2-Y2O3

Refractories, 1983
The phase formation and properties of solid solutions in the ZrO2-MgO, ZrO2-CaO, and ZrO2-Y2O3 systems have been studied over a wide range of concentrations and temperatures (1000–2000°C). The element of a phase diagram has been constructed for the ZrO2-MgO system in the subsolidus region.

Thermoluminescence of ZrO2

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1969
The thermoluminescence of ZrO2 samples, both pure and doped with titanium, irradiated with low doses of x rays has been studied. The glow curve of ZrO2(Ti) exhibits, in the temperature range 100° to 350°K, four main peaks all having the same spectral composition.
