Web-building management in an orb-weaving spider, Zygiella x-notata: influence of prey and conspecifics

The first record of Zygiella x-notata (Araneae: Araneidae) from Japan

Zygiella x-notata (Clerck 1757) is newly recorded from Japan, based on the specimens collected from Yokohama Port, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu in 2003. The known distributional range of the species includes Europe and China, and North and South America possibly as the secondary introduction.
