Hemangioma of the zygomatic bone is an extreme rarity. Six cases have been reported in the English literature. These reports and the 2 new patients presented here constitute the basis for our data. Clinical, histopathological, therapeutic, and reconstructive considerations are discussed.

Secondary Repair of the Zygoma
Facial Plastic Surgery, 2017AbstractSecondary deformities of the zygoma are a rare entity, thanks to the adoption and refinement of open reduction and internal fixation techniques. These injuries are often difficult to treat due to the unique structural, functional, and aesthetic properties of the zygoma.

Chondromyxoid Fibroma of the Zygoma
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 1992A case of chondromyxoid fibroma (CMF) involving the zygoma is presented. To our knowledge, this case report represents the first description of CMF involving an extragnathic site in the facial skeleton exclusive of the cranium. Total excision and immediate reconstruction were done with alloplastic material fixated with microplates and screws.

The zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) has integral structure and function in the bony skeleton of the face. The prominent convex shape of the ZMC makes it particularly vulnerable to injury. Facial trauma can result in fractures limited to a single buttress of the ZMC but more commonly results in a tetrapod fracture involving all four buttresses ...

Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1982
An unusual cyst of the zygoma is described. Three patterns of development of the cyst are suggested, namely: 1. Residual cyst of retained deciduous roots with metaplasia of the odontogenic epithelium into respiratory epithelium. 2. Fissural cyst of the zygomatico-maxillary suture. 3. Connection to the maxillary sinus, by a developmental exvagination or

Desmoplastic Fibroma of the Zygoma
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1999Desmoplastic fibroma is an exceedingly rare primary bone tumor. Previous reports have not included the presentation of this tumor associated with the zygoma. This report describes the unusual presentation and surgical management of a desmoplastic fibroma of the zygoma.

Primary Hemangioma of the Zygoma
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1965HEMANGIOMATA are common; however, their occurrence as primary tumors within the skeletal system is extremely rare. 3,4,6,9,13,14,16 According to Wyke, 16 the general incidence of hemangiomata of bone is 0.7% of osseous neoplasms. In a series of 1,831 bone tumors recorded at the Registry of Bone Sarcoma, only 13 were hemangiomata.

Approaching the Zygoma with an Endoscope
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 1995A hemicoronal or coronal incision is required in combination with a buccal incision to expose the zygoma, including zygomatic process of the temporal bone, and lateral orbital rim under direct visualization. An endoscope was used to expose zygoma in selected cases to reduce the length of the incision.
