Molecular Characters of Zygomycetous Fungi
2010The traditional Zygomycota has recently been considered polyphyletic as evidenced by a lot of molecular phylogenetic analyses. As a result, it has been distributed into a new phylum and four pending subphyla. Before the taxonomic status for these four subphyla could be determined, the term “zygomycetous fungi” is used for those members traditionally ...

The genus Utharomyces Boedijn (Pilobolaceae: Zygomycetes)
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1980Utharomyces epallocaulus, a coprophilous member of the Pilobolaceae, which appears to be widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics and is most commonly isolated from rodent dung, is redescribed, illustrated, and validated by the selection of a neotype. The ontogeny of the trophocyst and sporangium is discussed in detail.

Classical morphology in zygomycete taxonomy
Canadian Journal of Botany, 1995Classification of Zygomycetes has evolved with the description of new taxa and the rediscovery and redescription of known species. Taxonomy of orders in Zygomycetes is based on the morphology of the spore forming structures, sporangia and (or) sporangiola, or merosporangia.

Aspergillus Species and Zygomycetes
2009Aspergillus infection of the gastrointestinal tract occurs almost exclusively in immunocompromised patients, particularly those with prolonged neutropenia, and thus bone marrow transplant recipients are at particular risk for invasive aspergillosis. The majority of patients with aspergillosis also have coexistent lung lesions.Aspergillus species have ...

Trisporic Acid and Mating in Zygomycetes
2014The Zygomycota received their name by analogy to the other fungal groups based on the overt morphology of their sexual apparatus. Sexuality is based on the interaction of two thalli of different mating types in the heterothallic species and on the interaction of two hyphae or hyphal branches in the same mycelium in homothallic species. Sexual reactions
