Automated FRAP microscopy for high‐throughput analysis of protein dynamics in chromatin organization and transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoboMic is an automated confocal microscopy pipeline for high‐throughput functional imaging in living cells. Demonstrated with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), it integrates AI‐driven nuclear segmentation, ROI selection, bleaching, and analysis.

Initial practice and performance of haydn´s minuets by pianists : the effects of the deprivation of stimulus in sensorial feedback in different conditions of study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
O presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar os efeitos da privação de estímulos (aurais, visuais e cinestésicos) na retroalimentação sensorial durante a preparação inicial de peças para piano por estudantes de diferentes níveis acadêmicos. Estudantes

Serious game based on virtual reality associated with EMG signal processing and sensory feedback for upper limb prosthesis training [PDF]

open access: yes
Amputation is a lasting life experience. Furthermore, prosthesis fitting and training are usually long and sometimes frustrating experiences. Few approaches explore the problem of controlling virtual myoelectric prostheses, using Virtual Reality ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Rider control identification in cycling taking into account steer torque feedback and sensorial delays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Experimental data were obtained from riding a steer-by-wire bicycle on the open road while perturbing balance with impulsive forces at the seat post (lateral pertubations) as well as perturbing balance with impulsive torques at the steering assembly ...

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Myoelectric Prostheses with Sensorial Feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A design of a control system for myoelectric prostheses is shown based on a microcontroller that can give the possibility for the amputated patient to replace the pressure perception.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
