Illuminating the Dark: Using eDNA Metabarcoding to Study the Unique Ichthyofauna of the Furnas Formation Sinkholes

Using eDNA metabarcoding, we assessed fish diversity in isolated sinkholes in southern Brazil, uncovering signs of local extinction and species persistence. This approach offers a non‐invasive tool for biodiversity assessment and informs conservation efforts in unique karst environments.

Storage Effects on Shea (Vitellaria paradoxa C.F. Gaertn) Seed Radicle Protrusion and Plumule Development

Delayed sowing of the recalcitrant shea seeds leads to a reduction in radicle protrusion and seedling emergence. Although storage of shea seeds results in a rapid decline in viability, it is necessary when the nursery is not ready for immediate seeding.
