„Der Grundriß unseres Lebens ist in der Tat ein ‚Riß‘“. Ansätze zu einer Anthropologie der Negativität bei Eugen Fink [PDF]
“The draft of our life is, indeed, a ‘rift’.” Towards an Outline of the Anthropology of Negativity in Eugen Fink --- Eugen Fink’s engagement with the nature of human being articulates essential truths about being human, without presupposing a positive ...

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Constructions with Evaluative Genitive Adnominal as Means of Axiological Marking
Constructions with adnominal evaluative genitive are considered as a specific way of encoding the axiological scores on the morphosyntactic level. The linguo-axiological approach to the study of this construction indicates the novelty and relevance of ...

Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Officina di IG XIV2 – Bracieri inediti da Taranto
This paper examines some unpublished braziers, currently stored at the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto. Three of them are inscribed with the same anthroponym in the genitive case (Ἑκαταίου), while the remaining eight are anepigraphic ...

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

On shortening, lengthening, and accent shifts in Slavic
The paper deals with several problems of Slavic historical accentology – pretonic length in the accentual paradigm c (and b) in South and West Slavic, the neo-circumflex phenomenon (including the accent in the genitive plural), the kȍkōt ‘rooster’ type ...
