Assessing the antibacterial potential of 6-gingerol: Combined experimental and computational approaches. [PDF]

open access: yesSaudi Pharm J
The rise of antibiotic resistance in bacteria is becoming a global concern, particularly due to the dwindling supply of new antibiotics. This situation mandates the discovery of new antimicrobial candidates. Plant-derived natural compounds have historically played a crucial role in the development of antibiotics, serving as a rich source of substances ...

Cardioprotection by 6-gingerol in diabetic rats [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2016
The current study was conducted to evaluate the effect of 6-gingerol (6G) on cardiac complications in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic (DM) rats. STZ-induced DM rats (single 50 mg/kg i.p. injection, 15 days prior to drug treatment) or time-matched controls were treated with 6G (75 mg/day route orally).

Pharmacokinetics of (6)-Gingerol after Intravenous Administration in Rats.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1991
A high-performance liquid chromatographic method to determine [6]-gingerol, a pungent constituent of ginger, in rat plasma was developed and a pharmacokinetic study was performed in rats. Quantitative analysis with high reproducibility was achieved for [6]-gingerol over the concentration range of 0.2-40 micrograms/ml.

In Situ Jejunal Absorption of (6)-Gingerol in Rats.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Hospital Pharmacy, 1993
We investigated the in situ jejunal absorption of [6]-gingerol to determine the extent of its intestinal absorption after administering the drug solution (2 mg in 0.9% NaCl solution containing 5% Tween 80) into the closed jejunal loop in rats. The plasma concentration of [6]-gingerol in the mesenteric venous blood was measured periodically up to 60 min,
