Therapeutic potential of natural products in cancer immunotherapy: Advances and challenges

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
This review systematically outlines the mechanisms underlying tumour immunotherapy resistance and elucidates the role of natural products in enhancing therapeutic efficacy as immunomodulatory adjuvants. Abstract Immunotherapy has emerged as a clinically pivotal approach in cancer treatment, but its application remains limited to a small subset of ...

Neuronal and ion channel mechanisms of noxious heat sensing in mammals: A puzzle of sensory physiology and pharmacology

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) was the first noxious heat‐sensitive channel discovered. In rodents, its role is robust in the heat response of the cell body of polymodal nociceptors, but surprisingly small in that of the peripheral terminals in the skin.

Genomic variation drives plant flavor diversification

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review explains how genomic variation shapes plant flavor by altering the biosynthetic and regulatory pathways of key attributes like sweetness, acidity, bitterness, piquancy, astringency, and aroma. It also discusses how multi‐omics, AI‐assisted breeding, and gene editing can translate this knowledge into plants with improved flavor, nutrition ...

Innovations in Obesity Treatment: Beyond Adipose Tissue Dysfunction

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
Obesity drives chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cancer development through adipocyte dysfunction. Addressing this multisystemic disorder requires integrated strategies beyond diet and exercise, such as thermogenesis activation via menthol or capsinoids and appetite control through GLP‐1/GIP agonists and neuromodulation to ...

Oral Ulcerations and Phytotherapy: Potential Role of Helichrysum Essential Oil—A Literature Review

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common yet therapeutically challenging chronic inflammatory disease of the oral mucosa, characterized by recurrent, painful ulcerations that substantially affect patients' quality of life. Objective This review summarizes current evidence on phytotherapy in RAS, with particular focus on the ...

Environmental Drivers of Metabolic Plasticity in Rubia cordifolia From the Western Himalaya: Implications for Phytochemical Diversity and Antioxidant Potential

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 10, October 2026.
Environmental heterogeneity drives remarkable metabolic plasticity in Rubia cordifolia with significant variation in nutritional constituents, phytochemicals, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activity among natural populations. High‐altitude populations exhibited higher accumulation of phenolics, flavonoids, alizarin, mollugin, and antioxidant ...

Drying ginger and preserving 6-gingerol

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2018
Ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale) is widely used as a spice or as a medicinal plant. The major bioactive compound in fresh ginger rhizome is 6-gingerol and it is known for having a number of physiological effects. This compound is heat-sensitive and during cooking or drying will transform into 6-shogaol.

The Mycorrhizal Fungal Species Funneliformis mosseae Reshapes Rhizosphere Microbial Metabolic Pathways of Soybeans Under Tetracycline Stress

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
The presence of residual antibiotics (tetracycline) poses a threat to food safety in the black soils of northeastern China and a mycorrhizal fungal species Funneliformis mosseae could mitigate the negative effects. This study tracked the changes in soybeans' rhizospheric microbial profiles and the associated metabolites during the bioremediation ...

Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction Ameliorates Cachexia in Lung Cancer Mice Through Regulating Amino Acid Metabolism: Insights From Transcriptomics, Metabolomics and Experimental Validation

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 19, October 2026.
ABSTRACTThe effects and mechanisms of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction (HGWD) in cancer cachexia remain unclear. We generated an in vivo cachexia model by implanting Lewis lung carcinoma cells into mice and treated animals with HGWD. We evaluated muscle function using grip strength and wire‐grip tests.

PmWRKY‐10 Enhances Pine Wilt Disease Resistance by Promoting Pinosylvin Monomethyl Ether Biosynthesis Through Transcriptional Activation of PmPMT2‐1

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
We identified a PmWRKY‐10→PmPMT2‐1→PME defence pathway in Pinus massoniana against pine wilt disease. PmWRKY‐10 activates PmPMT2‐1 to promote the accumulation of the nematicidal metabolite PME. This discovery reveals the mechanism of stilbene‐mediated resistance and provides key genetic targets for forest management.
