Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of [6]-gingerol
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2005In the present study, the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of [6]-gingerol, which is the pungent constituent of ginger, were performed. Intraperitoneal administration of [6]-gingerol (25 mg/kg-50 mg/kg) produced an inhibition of acetic acid-induced writhing response and formalin-induced licking time in the late phase.

Metabolism of [6]-gingerol in rats
Life Sciences, 2002The metabolic fate of [6]-gingerol, one of the active constituents of Zingiber officinale Roscoe, was investigated using rats. The bile of rats orally administered [6]-gingerol was shown to contain a major metabolite (1) by HPLC analysis. Although the metabolites derived from [6]-gingerol were not detected in the urine, the ethyl acetate extract of the

Plasma pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of [6]-gingerol in rats
Biopharmaceutics and Drug Disposition, 2008Abstract[6]‐Gingerol is one of the pungent components in ginger which has been found to possess various pharmacological effects. However, there is insufficient information on the properties of [6]‐gingerol based on controlled pharmacokinetic studies.

Standardized [6]-gingerol extracts were prepared by microwave-assisted extraction using 20% v/v glycerin in ethanol and 20% v/v eutectic mixture of sucrose and citric acid in ethanol as alternative green solvents. The extracts obtained from 20% v/v glycerin in ethanol (GEE) and 20% v/v eutectic mixture of sucrose and citric acid in ethanol (EMSCEE ...

Microsomal Hydroxylation and Glucuronidation of [6]-Gingerol
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006[6]-Gingerol is the major pungent principle of ginger and frequently is ingested with various condiments and nutritional supplements. We report here that incubation of [6]-gingerol with NADPH-fortified rat hepatic microsomes gave rise to eight metabolites, which were tentatively identified by GC-MS analysis as two products of aromatic hydroxylation as ...

The active part of the [6]-gingerol molecule in mutagenesis
Mutation Research Letters, 1983A study was performed to discover the active part in mutagenesis of [6]-gingerol, a mutagen contained in ginger Zingiber officinale (Nakamura and Yamamoto, 1982). [6]-Shogaol was isolated from the ginger by column chromatography on silica gel. [6]-Shogaol was much less mutagenic (1 X 10(3) revertants/10(8) viable cells/700 microM) than [6]-gingerol (1 ...
