Anaerobic Degradation of Lindane and Other HCH Isomers
Lindane (¿-HCH) is a pesticide that has mainly been used in agriculture. Lindane and the other HCH isomers are highly chlorinated hydrocarbons. The presence of a large number of electron withdrawing chlorine groups makes some of the HCH isomers rather ...

Abstract figure legend The results from this study show that maximal cardiac output, stroke volume and leg blood flow are similar between highly trained females and males after normalisation to lean body mass (LBM). However, the 10% higher haemoglobin concentration ([Hb]) and arterial O2 content in males result in higher systemic and leg O2 delivery ...

An anaerobic coculture was enriched from a hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) polluted soil. The coculture reductively dechlorinates the ß-HCH isomer to benzene and chlorobenzene in a ratio of 0.5¿2 depending on the amount of ß-HCH degraded.

A Tutorial on Bayesian Multi‐Study Factor Analysis With Applications in Nutrition and Genomics
ABSTRACT High‐dimensional data are crucial in biomedical research. Integrating such data from multiple studies is a critical process that relies on the choice of advanced statistical models, enhancing statistical power, reproducibility, and scientific insight compared to analyzing each study separately.

Characterisation of Aardvark, a Dictyostelium ß-catenin. [PDF]
Wnt signalling is active both in development and the progression of certain disease processes, most notably cancer. Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3 (GSK-3) and ß-catenin both define the canonical Wnt pathway, where GSK-3 negatively regulates ß-catenin ...

ABSTRACT Background Recent studies suggest that disruptions of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) barrier within the choroid plexus (ChP) may contribute to multiple sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis. We investigated the relationship between a quantitative marker of ChP enhancement and markers of focal and diffuse brain tissue injury in MS.
