Corporate ESG Greenwashing: Does Regulatory Proximity Matter?

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) greenwashing undermines sustainable development, yet the influence of regulatory proximity on oversight is understudied. By introducing the “distance decay effect” from geoeconomics into ESG misconduct research and using a sample of Chinese listed firms from 2009 to 2022, this study reveals a ...

CEO Compensation and the ESG Activities of Compensation Peers

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the relationship between executive compensation at focal firms and the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance of compensation peer (CP) firms. Despite the growing integration of ESG metrics into executive compensation design, and the mandatory disclosure of CP groups, no prior research has examined ...

Dynamic Reactivity: Reversible Reaction of a Phosphinine–Borane Adduct With Water and Double Hydrophosphination

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A phosphinine–borane Lewis pair shows a dynamic mode of water addition, revealing reversible and regioselective transformations that expand the reactivity of aromatic phosphorus heterocycles and open pathways to stimuli‐responsive systems for catalysis, small‐molecule activation, and functional materials.

Iridium Complexes of a Triazole‐Derived Pincer Ligand: Synthesis, Reactivity, and Transfer Dehydrogenation Catalysis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Ir pincer complexes bearing a triazole architecture in the pincer backbone and O‐ancillary chelating ligands are presented. These were employed in the catalytic transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes as well as of saturated heterocycles. Reactivity of these complexes with silver salts and Lewis acids produced various cationic iridium complexes.

Alkali‐Metal Base Catalyzed Electrocyclization of Isoprene Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Simple and abundant alkali‐metal base catalysis in combination with Lewis basic polyamines enables the electrocyclization of isoprene‐derived trienes to cycloheptadienes under neat conditions. Mechanistic insight supported by DFT guides a scalable route to seven‐membered carbocycles which, after reduction, give saturated cycloalkanes relevant as ...

Release of multicomponent pheromones from porous fibres

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Surface engineering empowers a polymer exclusion net to serve dual functions: physical exclusion and pheromonal release, allowing for pest control in agricultural crops. In previous work, a net woven from porous fibres releasing simple, single‐component alarm pheromones showed promising results in field tests.

Pd‐Catalyzed Cyclotrimerization and Cycloaddition of 5,6‐Didehydrobenzo[8]annulenes (BenzoCOTynes): Formation of Nonplanar Tri[8]annulenes and Diels–Alder Cycloadducts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A Pd(0)‐catalyzed cyclotrimerization of benzoCOTynes to form tri(benzo[8]annulenes) was developed. Three distinct isomers were isolated and structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Ligand modulation proved crucial for enhancing regioselectivity: P(4‐OMePh), and (S)‐tBu‐Phox promoted the formation of the symmetric isomers.

Dibenzosuberene‐Winged Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The twisted acene 8, which features two dibenzosuberene “wings”, was prepared by the addition of a crowded aryne to a similarly “winged” cyclopentadienone. Compound 8 is chiral, and it has a high barrier to thermal racemization (ΔG‡rac = 36 kcal/mol), but it undergoes fast photochemical racemization even in ambient light.

The second unprovoked seizure in a cohort of treated patients with a first unprovoked seizure

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To evaluate the rate of a second unprovoked seizure in antiseizure medications (ASMs)‐treated patients following a first unprovoked seizure and to identify potential risk factors associated with its occurrence. Methods A retrospective review of the computerized database and the medical records of all the patients who presented to ...

Mechanisms of SCN2A loss of function do not predict presence or phenotype of epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective SCN2A loss‐of‐function (LoF) variants are associated with epilepsy (onset age ≥ 3 months), intellectual disability (ID), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Despite numerous identified variants and the description of phenotypic subgroups, relationships between Nav1.2 channel dysfunction and clinical phenotypes remain unclear.
