Inpatient Outcomes of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients With Acute Pancreatitis: Insights From the TriNetX Database

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
There was a statistically significant increase in all cause mortality, patients requiring ICU level of care, acute kidney injury, deep venous thrombosis, hemorrhage, and severe sepsis in patients hospitalized for acute pancreatitis with atrial fibrillation as compared to those without atrial fibrillation between 2010 and 2024.

Neuro‐Immune Crosstalk: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Neurons, immune cells, and other cellular components within the disease microenvironment (such as stromal cells and tumor cells) constitute a dynamically evolving ecosystem. Neurons directly modulate immune cell activity and inflammatory responses through the release of neurotransmitters (e.g., norepinephrine and CGRP), while also promoting tumor ...

The Crystal Structure of Human Transport and Golgi Organization 2 Homolog (TANGO2) Protein Reveals an αββα‐Fold Arrangement

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 94, Issue 2, Page 515-528, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Transport and Golgi Organization 2 Homolog (TANGO2) protein deficiency disorder (TDD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by multi‐systemic abnormalities and significant phenotypic variability including neurodevelopmental delay, seizures, intermittent ataxia, hypothyroidism, rhabdomyolysis, life‐threatening metabolic ...

Remote Pancreatic Response to Severe Polytrauma Correlates With Clinical Outcome

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Acute pancreatic injury can result from blunt or sharp force trauma, often leading to serious complications. While direct pancreatic trauma is associated with high rates of infection, organ failure, and mortality, little is known about the pancreas as a potential secondary target and remote trauma organ and thereby as a booster of ...

Development of a Tool for High‐Efficiency, Markerless and Iterative Genome Editing in Shouchella clausii

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 2, February 2026.
Shouchella clausii, a spore‐forming Gram‐positive bacterium with a long‐standing use as probiotic, has long been considered genetically intractable. This study introduces a high‐efficiency electroporation protocol and a versatile Golden Gate‐compatible shuttle vector (pM4B522), enabling precise, scarless and iterative genome editing in both S.
