An unusual type of enzyme inhibition

The inhibition of papain by benzoylamido acetonitrile with benzoylglycine methyl-ester as substrate exhibits unusual kinetics. In the double reciprocal plot the lines of various inhibitor concentrations intersect in the first quadrant. It is tenatively explained by association between substrate and inhibitor.
