Cross-species chimeras reveal BamA POTRA and β-barrel domains must be fine-tuned for efficient OMP insertion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BAM is a conserved molecular machine, the central component of which is BamA. Orthologues of BamA are found in all Gram-negative bacteria, chloroplasts and mitochondria where it is required for the folding and insertion of β-barrel containing integral ...

Dietary Threonine Promoted the Growth and Ovarian Development of the Red Swamp Crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
To explore the effects of dietary threonine on growth and ovarian development of red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), crayfish (5.48 ± 0.19 g) were fed six isoproteic and isoenergetic diets with varying levels of threonine (7.16 g/kg (control), 9.19, 12.74, 16.44, 20.83, and 23.78 g/kg) for 8 weeks.

Effects of Dietary Taurine on Maturation Indices, Antioxidant Capacity, Ovaries Amino and Fatty Acids Profile, and Vitellogenin Gene Transcription Level in Penaeus vannamei Female Brooders

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
A 30‐day research was carried out to examine the impacts of dietary taurine (Tau) on ovaries maturation and physiological responses of Penaeus vannamei female brooders (29.4 ± 0.2 g). A basal diet (497 g kg−1 protein and 140 g kg−1 lipid) was administered with graded levels of Tau ranging from 0 (control) to 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 g kg−1.

Study on the Optimal Phospholipid Addition Levels for Button‐Sized Juvenile Chinese Mitten Crab (Eriocheir sinensis): Survival, Growth, Physiological Parameters, and Neverland Expression

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
A 50‐day feeding experiment was performed to investigate the effects of dietary phospholipid (PL) addition on the survival, growth, serum, and hepatopancreas lipid indexes, calcium content, and neverland (Nvd) gene expression in button‐sized juvenile Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis).

Ecdysterone and acetylcholinesterase activity in cultured Drosophila cells Inducible, non‐inducible and constitutive clones or lines

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1977
While examining the morphological effects of the steroid molting hormone ecdysterone (fl-ecdysone) on Drosophila melanogastcr cell line Kc [I ] , various ecdysterone-sensitive and -resistant clones were selected [2] .

Temperature Increase Can Cause Hyperecdysonism in American Lobsters (Homarus americanus) Injected with Ecdysterone

open access: yes, 1975
In the lobster Homarus americanus the threshold dose for premolt acceleration by ecdysterone can be altered by changes in temperature. Two dose levels of ecdysterone (0.5 and 1.0 μg/g body weight) were compared at three different temperatures (10, 17 ...
