Determination the Optimum Conditions for β-glucan Production Extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Β-glucan is a natural polysaccharide composed of a group of glucose monomers linked by beta glycoside bonds that yeasts can be synthesized. The effect of different temperatures, inoculum size, glucose concentration, yeast extract concentration, pH, and ...

The presence of β-glucan in barley grains is one of its important quality traits. Lower β-glucan content is required for the barley used in beer and feed production, while higher β-glucan content is beneficial for food barley. Although intensive research

An immunoregulator nanomedicine approach for the treatment of tuberculosis
Introduction: A nanoparticle composed of a poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) core and a chitosan (CS) shell with surface-adsorbed 1,3 β-glucan (β-glucan) was synthesized. The exposure response of CS-PLGA nanoparticles (0.1 mg/mL) with surface-bound β-

β-Glucans Production of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by Using Tofu Waste as Animal Feed Supplement
Tofu industrial waste has the potential to become contaminant when it is not maximum processed, so it needs appropriate treatment to minimize the occurrence of pollution. β-Glucans can be produced from the yeast cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. As a feed supplement, β-Glucans have been used for an immunostimulant because it can increase the ...

β-glucan has been used as immunostimulant for fish. However, the effect of yeast β-glucan on viral infections has been less studied in fish. In this study, we investigated the effects of β-glucan on the resistance of zebrafish against spring viraemia of ...

Bacterial α-glucan phosphorylases [PDF]
Although glycogen and other α-1,4-d-glucan storage polysaccharides are present in many bacteria, only few glucan phosphorylases from bacteria have been identified and characterised on the protein or gene level. All bacterial phosphorylases follow the same catalytic mechanisms as their plant and vertebrate counterparts, but differ considerably in terms ...

Effect of papulacandin B on β-glucan synthesis in Schizosaccharomyces pombe [PDF]
The antifungal antibiotic papulacandin β inhibited B(1,3)glucan-synthase activity, in vitro, from Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Levels of β(1,3)glucan-synthase from antibiotic-treated cultures were lower than the control cultures whereas mannan-synthase and β(1,3)glucanase activities were almost unaffected.

The role of ruminal carboxymethylcellulases in the degradation of β-glucans from cereal grain [PDF]
The non-cellulolytic ruminal bacterium, Prevotella bryantii, grew rapidly on water soluble β-glucans, but a mutant deficient in carboxymethylcellulase (CMCase) activity could not. Native activity gels prepared with CMC and β-glucan indicated that the CMCase and β-glucanase activities migrated at similar rates. When a plasmid carrying the P.

Involvement of phosphorylated compounds in stimulation of 1,4-β glucan synthases ofSaprolegnia monoica [PDF]
The stimulation by ATP of β glucan synthase activities of cell-free extracts of Saprolegnia monoica was enhanced by the presence of glucose-phosphates. These effects were obtained in conditions of 1,4-β glucan synthesis; on the contrary, strong inhibition was observed during 1,3-β glucan production.

Cyclic diguanylic acid stimulates 1,4-μ-glucan synthase fromSaprolegnia monoica [PDF]
Abstract 1,4-μ-Glucan synthase activity, but not 1,3-μ-glucan-synthase activity, from Saprolegnia monoica was stimulated by cyclic-diguanylic acid, an immediate activator of Acetobacter xylinum - cellulose synthase. This activator, which increased the V max without modifying the K m for UDP-glucose, was active on solubilized and partially ...
