Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Salivary β-glucosidase as a direct factor influencing the occurrence of halitosis
β-Glucosidases are enzymes present in all living organisms, playing a pivotal role in diverse biological processes. These enzymes cleave β-glycosidic bonds between carbohydrates, or between a carbohydrate and a non-carbohydrate moiety, which may result ...

Climate Change Threatens Micronutrient Density of European Winter Wheat
Micronutrients are vital for human health. Wheat is a major staple crop and a significant source of minerals and B‐vitamins. The impact of climate change on their content remains largely unknown. We evaluated micronutrient levels in European winter wheat grown under historical and projected climate conditions. Our findings indicate that future climates

Characterization of thermophilic β-Glucosidase of rhizospheric bacterial strain (LSKB15) isolated from Cholistan Desert, Pakistan [PDF]
Fifty thermophilic bacterial strains isolated from rhizospheric soil of Cholistan desert, Pakistan, and designated as LSKB01-LSKB50 were screened for β-glucosidase gene (bgl) belonging to glycoside hydrolase family 1 (GH 1) using PCR technique ...

Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

The effect of sulfide on -glucosidases: implications for starch degradation in anaerobic bioreactors [PDF]
Membrane associated α-glucosidase activity was investigated in a methanogenic bioreactor (MR) and a biosulfidogenic bioreactor (SR). Temperature and pH optima studies showed temperature optima of 50 °C and pH optima of 8.0 for the α-glucosidases from ...

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.
